STFU Vaughany!
http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/current/story/603423.html
"Michael Vaughan, the former England captain who led them in regaining the Ashes eight years ago, believes that the current side have "a great chance" to win back-to-back series against Australia in 2013. England will fine-tune their preparations for the Ashes with home and away series against New Zealand and Vaughan suggested the strength in depth at Alastair Cook's disposal makes them strong favourites against an Australia side in transition."
Honestly, I reckon England should just win in England...I'll say 2-1, but this time around I think they'll struggle to beat Aus at home. Might get a draw.

Not sure if I'd agree with any of his shit.
What focked me off the other day was that he wanted Joe 'Yorks' Root at #2 and Jonny 'Yorks' Bairstow at #6. What a f*cking Yorkshire qunt.

Re: STFU Vaughany!
He wants Darren Gough and Freddie Trueman back.
He's not sure about Geoffrey, though.

Maybe that's how they came up with Richard of York.

They had to separate the two strings of DNA, which was tricky.

Root'l be opening soon enough - Nicky Compton must realise he's just a very short term stop gap.
Bairstow? I suppose anybody could end up at number six, as there's no outstanding candidate currently. I still think Ben Stokes will take it on eventually - and bring a bit of bowling into the balance to boot.
Johnny B's best chance of being an England regular is when Matt Prior hangs up his beard.

"Root'l be opening soon enough" is a bit hackneyed. Compton is 29, not 36. Heck, if he played Tests until he was 36, he'd have 50+ caps. This time, I say 'why change a winning formula' - an obdurate top three, followed by a freer flowing 4 to 9 - it's not the worst idea. Compton has a bag of technical ability and is more likely to favour pitches with a bit of lateral movement, he plays tightly inside the line very well indeed. Four Tests, debuting in the most foreign of conditions isn't a long enough look.
Re: STFU Vaughany!
Compton will get another chance in NZ, and I'm sure he'll find conditions much more to his liking than he did in India (where he hardly disgraced himself)
I think some people are getting a bit carried away with all this Root love. Sure, he's a fine young player, but let's not put too much pressure on him to be the next Messiah.

There has been near hysteria in the media for about a year, nearly as fawny as the Aussie press are over their own. The pundits have been squealing for months as well. I mean, he looks good, but let's not go overboard
Re: STFU Vaughany!
I dunno, it's not like England have struggled to produce good young batsmen in recent times. Cook and Bell were both younger than Root when they first played for England.
I think it's got something to do with Root looking about 16 rather than 22.

Can't see anything wrong with what he's saying. England ARE a good chance of winning back to back Ashes this year. Pup is our only world class batsman, and our bowlers are all trying to establish themselves and are susceptible to melt down if the opposition bats come at them hard.

I just don't think England view him as a long term investment and wouldn't be surprised if he's eased aside by the winter after a couple of low scores.
They've got a lot of middle order up-and-coming batsmen, but only one open place (Trott, Pietersen and Bell - injuries, egomania and cowardice notwithstanding - are in for the long haul) at six. If Root maintains his place in the side with consistent runs, any other batsman from the outside looking to find a breach in the line-up will probably view Compton as the most vulnerable link in the chain, with Root taking over opening duties, vacating number six.
Compton looks solid to me. He certainly deserves at least the NZ series to build on his performances in India. I'm not convinced he'll be afforded too much time, however.

What, Ronnie 'The Ultimate Knickershitter' and Ali 'The Musical Statue'. Hmmm

Wait. What? Trev - the inventor of Trevving - thinks people are overhyping a young cricketer?
In other news, Hitler thinks genocide is a bit rude.

I suppose it depends how he goes. I think he'll have to perform pretty badly. England have carried batsmen since 2010 - I'm not sure they'd suddenly change tack. The clamour is there from the press, the same sort of bumpkins who wanted Blackwell in instead of Monty, but that doesn't mean the people in charge feel the same.
