Well, should he?
Should Brett Lee STFU?
Lee wants the new ball for the Ashes series, and has spoken a whole boatload of crap in an article in Sydney's Small Paper For Stupid People.
Selected 'highlights':
Full artcile at http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,25179130-5006069,00.html
It includes a poll on whether you think Lee should be in the Ashes team. At the moment the vote is 50-50.
Selected 'highlights':
Pardon me while I go and vomit up my breakfast. What an arrogant f*ck.PACE spearhead Brett Lee has defiantly vowed to take the new ball in the first Ashes Test against England at Cardiff.
[snip]
But after having his first net session after ankle surgery at the start of the year, Lee declared: "I'm the fittest and strongest I've ever felt."
[snip]
The paceman will resist the urge to play county cricket and get some vital overs under his belt, preferring to use the Indian Premier League as an Ashes springboard.
[snip]
"It will be great working with the guys again. Mitchell Johnson has been outstanding, Peter Siddle, Hilfenhaus, these guys are now starting to make a name for themselves, and it will be great to be in that mix again.
"I've only bowled in one net session, but I've got four weeks to get my speed up.
[snip]
Lee said the four-over stints in the IPL in hot conditions served as a "lovely entree" for the Ashes.

Of course he wants in - his record against England is shitehouse and he sees some easy pickings on the horizon.
And he'll get to stay at Mark Nicholas' secluded, country cottage.

Re: Should Brett Lee STFU?
with the curtains closed, just in case.
I don't see why Lee shouldn't spearhead the attack. It will relieve the pressure on Johnson to take eightfers.

Re: Should Brett Lee STFU?
Brett Lee is wise to advocate the selection of himself for the Ashes.
He has valuable experience of English conditions and has indeed already taken 29 wickets previously on tours of England.

Bring him, Aussies. Might be the only laugh we get all summer.
Re: Should Brett Lee STFU?
Plus, it will boost his brands no end. I mean, come on. Give the guy a break.

Sage.
How much revenue will CA make if their 'Victory for the Ashes!' or 'Omazing Oval!' DVD's make if they have to slap Ponting's ugly mug on the front cover? Or even worse that bloke from the Pixies with the rug on his head?
Aside from being your best bowler Brett Lee is also your most marketable asset.
No one wants to watch ugly cricketers anymore. Why do you think we got rid of Andy Caddick?
Re: Should Brett Lee STFU?
'Omazing Oval!' Does that mean Mark Nicholas will be doing cummentary again?

Of course. It shall be one in a series.
For just $19.99 you can buy Lovely Lords, Sumptuous Sophia Gardens and get OooohhHeadingley tossed in for free.

Young Brett's feeling a bit left out after all the love going around for Midge, Cot Death and Hilf . . . maybe he fears people will blame him for the losses in India and Oz . . .

"I'm not embarrassed to say that I expect to lead the pace attack and take that brand new ball again for Australia," Lee told Cricinfo. "I think it will add another dimension to our attack to have a right- and a left-hander out there capable of bowling over 150kph and swinging the ball in and out to the batsmen. Australian cricket is obviously in a very healthy state at the moment with the way the likes of Mitch and [Siddle] have been bowling, and I can't wait to be involved again. I hope that my record speaks for itself - I've worked hard to achieve ten years at the top of the game - and I can be out there creating a bit of carnage again alongside Mitch."
LOL. What a dickhead.

I'm not embarrassed to say that Lee has only had one good year of Test cricket in his whole life.

He's starting to make his old pal Shoaib look like a humble, no nonsense team man.
The sad thing is, Johnson and Siddle are both quicker than Lee these days, and yet you never hear anything from them about bowling "thunderbolts". I;ve never once heard Johnson hype up his own pace.
I hope Ponting considers Lee indispensible for the Ashes....

FFS! A strike bowler with an average of thirty who's never taken more than five wickets in an innings and they're even few and far between

You know, it was almost worth losing the the saffies to get rid of Blee . . . almost . . . more than anything, it was his lack of penetration/fitness that cost us the two tests . . .

Re: Should Brett Lee STFU?
"I'm not embarrassed to say that I am a conceited egomaniac who thinks, no, knows he is bigger than the team or the game," Lee told Cricinfo. "I think it will add another dimension to our attack to have a left-hander out there capable of bowling over 150kph and swinging the ball in and out to the batsmen, and me sending down pies, wides and half-volleys at a fraction of my prvious pace in an effort to avoid conceding yet another 200 run haul in an innings. Australian cricket is obviously in a very healthy state at the moment with the way the likes of Mitch and [Siddle] have been bowling, and I can't wait to be involved again so I can f*ck all that up. I'm the prettuest player this country's had for many a year and my market value will slide if I'm left on the shelf. I hope that my record speaks for itself - I've worked hard to achieve ten years at the top of the game and having only managed one, I've got to work pretty hard to get the other nine, but I think my looks will hold out for long enough to keep the sponsors happy - and I can be out there creating a bit of carnage again alongside Mitch, I mean, how much can the poor scoreboard operators be expected to take on those manual boards in England. It'll be carnage as they run up and down the stairs constantly chaging the numbers as I leak runs like a sieve."
Fixed.
Fixed.
