Aust One Day Squad
As to be expected, the selectors have all but gifted the series to England.
For whatever reason, Ahmed has been selected instead of Doherty.....it certainly can't be for his figures which are bog ordinery even by Australian standards. Hazlewood has also been selected. At last count there were a dozen better performed bowlers at the end of last season. Twatto is also included. At least they have omitted the dire Mitch Marsh.
Michael Clarke (ODI Captain) NSW
George Bailey (ODI Vice-Captain/T20 captain) TAS
Fawad Ahmed VIC
Nathan Coulter-Nile WA
James Faulkner TAS
Aaron Finch VIC
Josh Hazlewood NSW
Phil Hughes SA
Mitchell Johnson WA
Shaun Marsh WA
Glenn Maxwell VIC
Clint McKay VIC
Steve Smith NSW
Mitchell Starc NSW
Adam Voges WA
Matthew Wade VIC
David Warner NSW
Shane Watson NSW

Re: Aust One Day Squad
I just saw that as well ... clueless.
The only forward thinking selection is Coulter-Nile.
However, it's only T20 and ODIs, so 'WGAF'.

Bernie has completely lost it.
But as the pieperson alludes, WRGAF?

Don't you Aussies worry. England will make Fawad look like a world-beater.

I can totally see the Poms gifting their wickets to Fawad so he gets picked for the home Tests.

Our batsmen don't have to gift their wickets to leg-break bowlers, they do it with a natural grace and flair.JGK wrote:I can totally see the Poms gifting their wickets to Fawad so he gets picked for the home Tests.

Yeah, if Ian Salisbury and Chris Schofield hadn't had the misfortune of being English they would have run through our batting line-up for whichever country they represented.

Re: Aust One Day Squad
I'd like to know on what basis Invererity selected Ahmed ecpecially in view of his very average performance on the A tour. On the other hand, Doherty's economy rate over the last twelve months of 4.09 is the best of any Australian one day bowler.
Re: Aust One Day Squad
You suspect it's down to Australia's "Experiment with their Asian communities"?
I think they want to get a look at him in ODIs before they throw him into a test match. He bowled well in the Ryobi Cup last Aus season. In South Africa, he was bowling on the flattest pitches of all time.

Re: Aust One Day Squad
Ahmed's done very little in any form of cricket at this stage. I hope he does, but at this stage he seems to be being selected purely in order to avoid accusations of negative bias ...Big Dog wrote:I'd like to know on what basis Invererity selected Ahmed ecpecially in view of his very average performance on the A tour. Re: Aust One Day Squad
Its not the responsibility of the NSP to 'experiment'. They are charged with putting the best team on the field to win the game & in this role they have utterly failed.Henry wrote:You suspect it's down to Australia's "Experiment with their Asian communities"?

The NSP have panicked trying to find the next SKW, and this is the result.lardbucket wrote:Ahmed's done very little in any form of cricket at this stage. Re: Aust One Day Squad
All hail the messiah. The second coming of Warne now that the original is just a hollowed out, blank-eyed, botoxed husk.
