Re: A wacky cricket celebrity baby name...
Fark no. Forum gold lardy. I lost a shitload on Albert. So much for no foreign first names. Farking politics. Actually spent a few days last year where his namesake popped his clogs after the nauseating crap after his uncle got engaged. Though at least the bride has actually done a days work in her life.

That'd be after the 'entitled brat' (cheers h) played by Dudley Moore in the film of the same name, of course....
OK so I was close - eventually he was named after the entitled brat played by Dan Ackroyd in 'Trading Places' instead.
(Vague mems of a cartoon monkey called King Louie from the early 70s - more info needed)

Animal Farm might be closer with that lot. Or Barnyard Friends depending on how sick or ancient you are.

As Lardy said
Carole Bayer Sager ...Moving out today
Kim Hughes chose it as the 8.30 song on Sport Breakfast a couple of weeks ago ...so it has been stuck in my head since then too

I enjoyed the animated version, as a young kid.
Did not bother with the recent 'update'.

Yeah once you gave me the extra lyrics i was fine. Child of the seventies, what can I say. Forced to meet the kid's girlfriend today and it was just finishing as we got in the car. Hughes and teenagers dalliances, who'd have thunk it.

Thanks for the stuff about King Louie.
You're Moving Out Today is welded to my flat-hopping days. As is the even more irritating Just One More Night (pleaser pleaser lemme stay....NO!!!!) which was around about the same time.

Fred I never thought of you as a flat hopper. Once I scored the YouTube thingy its been bouncing me around the seventies all night. Peter Sarstett may have been the bridge too far though.

I don't know what they thought of everyone else Bradders, but I'll guarantee that nobody considers Prince Harry a yahoo.
The Royal Princes may be awarded honorary Colonelships of a couple of units they never serve in ... but there are no short cuts to actual ranks/qualifications for them.
Few felt more strongly than I did about our forces dicking about in Afghanistan, but for Harry to be commanding an Apache helicopter on combat operations I'm in no doubt that he was deployed on merit. It's quite inconceivable that he was deployed purely because of who he was - in fact some senior commanders considered it too dangerous to send him due to the propaganda value of his possible death or even capture.

"I don't care if your are killed Sir, but your capture would be problematic"
Kissinger to the future Edeard VIII.
I'm not saying they'd be allowed to fly if they were legally blind. Just that they weren't subject to a competitive testing protocol. Or were they? Happy to be corrected. With the proviso being " competitive".

Honest answer from a veteran - yes, they had to meet exactly yhe qualifications as any other ship's mate/tank commander/pilot.
Although even we servicemen called the kit "big toys", they weren't playthings - they were dangerous machines. Each and every crew member's life was in the hands of the others. Mistakes have killed people, so even Royals have to pass every test before they are let loose with them.

No doubt. But I'm talking about the initial selection. Were they put in a room for a day or two with other prospective candidates and judged against them.
Not a veteran but have lectured aspiring officers from all three services and they're the few who make it pass a selection board.
