phurt...given the absence of any semblance of competition from the visiting international team, we resort as ever to the real competition - between States

Unfortch, my George-Costanza-style hand modelling days are over. Stumpy index finger is healing well. Just trying to retrain the nerves and ligaments to recognise that my index finger tip is now 30 mm further away from the mouse button than it used to be!!

Middle finger is still a bit narly courtesy of the 2 inch pin holding the various bits of bone together. Hoping that it comes out on Monday so I can get to work making "Fingery" (D's description, not mine  Cool ) work properly again (albeit with a non-bending top joint).

Have convinced the boss to let me have some of the Annual Leave (that I converted to Sick Leave) off after the doc gives me clearance to return to work. Got a shit load of stuff to do outside here at home that they forbade me doing.

Thanks for asking.

Indeed.

And who wants to be George Bonanza (as he was called on one episode, to his predictable annoyance)?

At least skully doesn't need his finger for work ...

The Perth guitarist who had his finger broken in an unprovoked attack on Sydney's Oxford Street in the early hours of Monday morning has spoken publicly for the first time about “the terrible incident”, calling it his “worst nightmare”.
Marc Earley is scheduled for surgery on Thursday in Perth, with “the best hand surgeon in WA”. In a statement he said the long-term prognosis was not great: “My injury is very serious, with only a 50 per cent chance of regaining normal movement.”
Earley will have daily rehabilitation on his finger, which was fractured in two places when an unknown assailant – who has not yet been caught – grabbed Earley's finger and snapped it at a right angle after abusing Earley and two friends in Oporto restaurant.

NSW police issued a description of the alleged attacker yesterday: a man in his 40s, with an olive complexion, of solid stocky build, standing 178 centimetres tall, with short brown hair, hazel eyes. He was wearing "a thick gold chain around his neck, a light blue T-shirt and light-coloured shorts".

The incident happened hours after Earley's band The Growl played at Sydney's St Jerome's Laneway Festival on Sunday.
He doesn't expect to know if he can continue playing guitar until 12 months has passed since the surgery.
Earley also thanked the 800-plus people who have donated more than $25,000 via gofundme.com.
“I am totally overwhelmed by the support and donations by the public… This truly is my worst nightmare and while in the past few days it's been incredibly hard comprehending the impact this injury will have on my abilities to keep playing music; seeing all the support from everyone has been the best positive distraction for me.”
He also paid tribute to his bandmates, especially Cam Avery (also in Tame Impala), who organised the web fund-raiser.
“It's thanks to all of you that I have the best chance of recovering from this terrible incident,” he said.
