Tis true, one would have to be deluded to call Cook's leadership captaincy, let alone criticise it.Dello wrote:He also said anyone criticising Alastair Cook's captaincy was "deluded".

It just seems to be a case of let's all unite against KP, which means this endless stream of platitudes towards the "establishment" men.

Here's the future, chaps.
That's how it's going to be: lots of working hard with a smile. And losing. But losing being low down the list in terms of importance as long as everyone's having a gay old time.
I love that quote - it's like a parody of a competent coach: "We've really enjoyed ourselves. Except for the losing..."
What a mug.

(Ashley Giles) "We've worked really hard through this trip, I think I've had the attention and commitment of the players and I think they've enjoyed it, barring the losing games. There's a good atmosphere in the camp, an extremely ego-less group of players we've got, which is healthy to work with.

We should start a Giles parody Twitter account. And let the media believe KP or Swanny or someone like that is behind it...

Hmmmmm. Jade Dernbach has got one of the biggest egos going - as said by everyone in County Cricket.

Re: Telegraph reporting Andy Flower's resigned.
Aggers says the job doesn't have the appeal these days for top coaches who can earn just as much for an IPL stint as for travelling round the world with England for a year.
Have we ever recruited a world renowned coach though? Flower seemed a cheap inexperienced option at the time. Moores was the underwhelming domestic candidate. Can't remember what Fletcher's background was before he took the job. Before that we had Bumble, enough said... did the job formally exist before that or was it just the old structure of captain, selectors and a tour manager?
So it's never been like Abramovich choosing the next Chelsea manager. It's more a case of identify someone with the right sort of vision for how they want the team to develop. Preferably Zimbabwean it would seem.

Mugabe would straighten your blokes up..but that is a little extreme...why not take the available Justin Langer?...he's available, a brown nose and used to living amidst southern africans

"We're not winning but we're happy"
"It's good to play in an ego-free environment"
"Fielding and fitness are a priority"
Seems to be the gist of it. It really is as bad as we thought! Let's see how happy everyone is when the fans stop showing up to the games and tuning in on TV, seeing as money seems to be the only thing the ECB is concerned about.
Get the team right, and everything else should fall into place. It's pretty simple, but it tends to work.

Most of the great players had huge egos. So it didn't work in Dernbach's case, but goes to show how clueless Giles is.

We could get a plane with a banner to fly over Lord's this summer, might be better received than the Man Utd one...Henry wrote:"We're not winning but we're happy"

England will consider appointing NSW & Sydney Sixers coach Trevor Bayliss to replace Andy Flower at the helm.
No word yet as to whether Bayliss would accept the demotion...

Harmi obviously still after a nice comfortable job coaching our fast bowlers to new depths of crapulence... gives Juan Carlos another vote of confidence.

He's got a gig at Sky, hasn't he. Obviously, given Giles Clarke's attempts to shut down dissenting opinion in the Sky commentary box, Steveo feels his pay cheque is on the line.
Or he's a moron. Could be that.
To claim that Tom Moody and Mickey Arthur (as well as Mick Newell, Mark Robinson and whoever else has applied for the job) are - combined - less of a coach than Ashley Giles is an incredible statement.
