England Lions in Sri Lanka
Inauspicious start to the tour for the Lions, bowled out for 201 in their first warm up game against Sri Lanka A Emerging Players. Only Moeen Ali (53), Johnny Bairstow (32) and Ollie Rayner (32) much troubled the scorers.
SLAEP 92/4 in reply. Mark Wood 3-18.

Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
SLAEP 176 a.o. - Wood 5/32
Lions 2nd innings 83/1 - Robson 45*
SLAEP can't be much cop if they let Woakes get three wickets.

SL aren't much cop. I would expect SLA to be less cop.
So, as for SLAEP...

Robson must be on the verge of joining Gilo's brave boys against Sri Lanka in May.

Last game petered out into a draw, Moeen Ali taking 3-50ish in the second innings.
Second match vs SLAEP.
England Lions currently 278/4 (Alex Lees 119, Chopra 47, Taylor 47)

Eng Lions 327/5 at stumps.
Alex Lees is one to watch. Opener. 4 FC hundreds in just 12 career games so far.
Although he's Yorkshire, so the chances are he is a technical catastrophe.

Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
Eng Lions declared their overnight score of 327/5.
SLAEP 153 a/o (Borthwick 4/25, Kerrigan 3/31)
Eng Lions seconding innings currently 21/2
Spinners in an England shirt taking wickets? Whaaaaaaaaat?

Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
They're basically playing a Sri Lankan school side, no?

Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
Not quite. They've mostly all got a reasonable amount of FC games under their belt - ranging from 5 to 96.
England Lions' range is 12 to 121 (Liam Plunkett! I didn't even realise he was out there.)

Isn't Dananjaya the Mendis clone?

They're good at chuckers, SL. They must have at least one in their side per Test. Eranga this time. Maybe Muttiah Dananjaya next time.
Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
Perera, the off spinner who's currently playing against the Bangers chucks it as well.

139/4 at the close (Jonny Rotten 58*, Liam Plunkett 34*) as Eng Lions stretch their lead to 313.
Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
If you want to know how crap SLAEP are - Plunkett has taken a ton off them.

Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
SLAEP 137/4 with a draw seemingly nailed on. Only 22 overs left after England Lions bizarrely batted the f*ck out of the game, setting them 464 in 60 overs.
Twats.

Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
Onions has been called up, as Mark Wood becomes the latest Lion to break down not soon after completing the "strength and conditioning" programme.
That's Wood, Willey, Topley and Overton that England have broken this winter.
Good old Kevin Shine - he ruins bowlers for a living.

Re: England Lions in Sri Lanka
Well, to be fair, Willey's was a long term problem that wasn't found out til the Winter. But f*ck yes, Kevin Shine has blagged it even more than Gashley

Extraordinary how well bowlers can go in some of these tour games, when the heat just isn't there. Kasprowicz made 97 v an Indian State team in the 90s, IIRC ... and didn't Siddle make a century against a county team?
