Thommo/Johnson vs. Steyn/Lillee types
Gideon Haigh was saying before that he never thought he would ever see another bowling like him. The interesting thing is that Steyn's figures atm are virtually identical to Lillee's but Thommo and Johnson are arguably the bowlers most batsmen would least like facing among the quartet.
It seems that it's the unorthodox actions that provide the scare factor in contrast to the classically beautiful ones.
Is it fair to say that sometimes those with the most awkward actions cause the most damage?

It was interesting to hear ABdV in the post-Valentine's Day Massacre press conference. He basically said that once you overcame the fear of being hurt, you were OK. It seems many of his com-padres were shitting their daks.

Probably true but a couple of the deliveries that spat were virtually unplayable. Guess they didn't even have the chance to fear for too long.
Johnson's fear factor is the absolute key for Australia. Given that he will only be used in short spells and there are only three other frontline bowlers, if they could just ride him out we could be in strife but when he finds things in the pitch that others don't which plays on the batsmen's minds, it takes the pressure off everybody, including our batsmen who seem to keep facing unrested bowlers in the second innings.

Still, Harris and Siddle are hardly Petersen and McLaren when it comes to "shit I'd better score some runs off this guy before X comes back on".

Rhino was disappointing. Cot held his end up.
