Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
22 runs needed off a final over bowled by Steyn? Best of luck with that...

That England competed despite their bowling is credit to their batting

Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
Great, just great. We had to go and moral victory it. We moral victoryed it to f*ck against NZ and the D/L - now we've got a narrow, yet essentially phoned in, loss today. Moral victories flying all over the place. Perfect for Ashley and his brave boys.
Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
This batting line-up is starting to look pretty good, I think we need to go with it in ODIs as well and stop pissing about with Cooks and Bells.
Bowling and fielding though, a complete shambles. Dernbach must be the worst bowler ever to play this much international cricket. Bresnan is consistently a liability, the spin cupboard still empty and Broad not quite sure where to use himself as a bowler. Jordan the only positive really.
Still Holland to play, of course - I guess they will give the unused squad players a game. Tommy Cooper and co. will be hoping Jade stays in the side.

Nasser just wrecked Dernbach. Still, he was like the selectors a few weeks back - he was a big advocate for Terdsach.

Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
My only real interest in this pretend-cricket circle-jerk is (from an England perspective) whether it torpedoes Ghastly Piles' ambitions for the top job.
Of course it won't.

Just to reiterate the good news, incase you missed it a few pages back: with that wondrous performance, Dernbach officially became the worst bowler in T20i history (joint, with Jacob Oram) economy-wise, achieving the rare and much sought after double of being the world's worst bowler in two formats, having nailed the ODI title a while ago.
Nobody, in the history of international limited overs cricket*, has been as consistently taken to the f*cking the cleaners as that sack of shit. Fact.
* = there's some qualifying stat about bowlers having played more than x amount of games or bowled x amount of overs. I don't know. I don't care. I just see the headline and the details fade away. He's the pits.

Oh well - the Jaaarps will see Engerlund off to the plane on Tuesday.
As I forecast at 17:31 on the 27th . . .
And to think ALL the Sky pundits nominated an England win.
Trouble is - no one mentioned that to ABdeV !
This might sound awful.... but I took the 2's on offer at Laddie's for an outright Saffer win.
Far too tempting to walk away from (in a two horse race)!

Looks like Dernbach reached new heights in profligacy overnight. You've renamed the WC after Gilly, how about renaming smorgasbord bowling after him? Leave it to Dello or Monkey to come up with the official term.

Re: Twenty20 World Cup 2014
Phew! One positive as Gashley's didn't sneak through to the semi-finals thus papering over the cracks of what is a pretty poor side, that got out of jail with a very good innings!
More shocking bowling and fielding, but at least their is a good spirit in the side, because that is most important!
Did anyone else notice in Broads interview he mentioned not having his best available side in the Tourney?
Oh and as an aside, AB Dev is an absolute freak! The man is insanely good!

Yeah, who else can smash 20-ball fifties in T20 and also block the crap out of it for a day in Tests if the situation demands it? In these days of pigeonholed specialists, he really is a man for any situation with the bat.

Not bad ... won 5-0 v England in the Ashes and beat your mob at home. I'll take it.

Dernbach is England's version of Australia's Glenn Trimble - it is a mystery that he has played more games.
