The core of the problem
Is probably India's immaturity as a nation. Accused of racism, found guilty of racism, collectively it's just not able to deal with it rationally.
Compare the two cases; Lehmann and Singh.
One admitted to his crime; one didn't.
One board upheld the ban applied; one threatened to cancel a tour, and got officials sacked.
One set of fans dealt with it with barely a murmur; one set of fans burnt effigies and carried on like pork chops.

One set of fans jumped in and endorsed the ban.

Re: The core of the problem
Why should Harbhajan admit to something that for all you and I Know, he didn't even do? No one FORCED Lehmann to admit what he said.
And LOL at the last part. We all remember the spats you and JC had over the Lehmann incident. You guys got through quite a few boxes of kleenex during that week.

Re: The core of the problem
It's not immaturity as a nation;
It's that colonial baggage and sense of past hurt/injustice. etc
this is something that can be reinforced in certain events.
You will not know unless you were part of such a society yourself.

Quite right, he should have denied everything, like Harby. then we could say no-one had any proof, for all we knew he hadn't said a thing, etc, etc.
Lehmann might have been a stoopid racist but at least he was an HONEST stoopid racist.

What's worse- Calling someone a monkey, or calling them a black c*nt?

both equally racially offensive, whereas 'arsey c*nt' or 'lucky c*nt' is just plain foul-mouthed.

Admitted to guilt vs denied everything and was backed up by the lack of evidence.

Re: The core of the problem
Seems to me certain people on here have read a transcript that the rest of us cannot find hide nor hair off!!
I wish Trev or Vikas would post a link to it, or at least copy and paste it for us all to see the lack of evidence!

Re: The core of the problem
Apparently the report already has. It appears that it basically boiled down to Procter feeling that the Indians were lying and the Aussies weren't. Justice at its best.

Re: The core of the problem
4 hours of it, I can't see a hearing lasting that long if there was nothing said ...
Let's see:
Tendulkar 'No, I didn't hear anything'
Hayden 'Well I heard him say 'monkey'
Clarke 'me too'
Nup, didn't take 4 hours

Re: The core of the problem
Well, if there WAS genuine evidence that Harbhajan said the word monkey, then why the hell haven't the ICC just made it public so that they don't look like idiots.......again?

Re: The core of the problem
Interestingly enough, maybe its because the Indians lodged an appeal in the 24 hour period they are allowed and therefore the report does not get released until the appeal is heard?????
