I know, the Indian team needs a bigger payday to be truly appreciated.

We need a specialist limited overs coach and selection panel. Completely independent and no misguided loyalties to the Test players. By all means have players involved in both, if they can justify their place in both.
And get them all in the IPL, it's desperately needed if we are to be anything like competitive with a white ball. If we have to shave a month off the beginning of the county season then so what - cricket here in April is little more than pointless bowling average manipulation for medium pace trundlers anyway.

So Tredwell who has been England's best bowler doesn't play because he spins it the same way as Ali? What kind of logic is that?

Also, Tredwell doesn't actually turn the ball anyway. He's a flight bowler.
Ah, what's the point in trying to work out what England were thinking? Just sit back, suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride.
Five ODI series defeats in a row - it's actually remarkable just how consistently England's ODI side is in utter disarray, on the brink of a World Cup. Since 1992, I think the cycle has followed the exact same path every time: a post-world cup "new era", some promising wins, some heavy defeats, panic, the total abandonment of the "new era" long-term planning in favour of short-term results, some promising wins, some heavy defeats, more heavy defeats, absolute panic, scrambling around for that bit of paper that had the original post-world cup plan written on it only to discover that half of the players have retired, fumbling, deperate panic, throw together a world cup squad at the last minute featuring 4 uncapped players - specialists in one day cricket, allegedly - and a 48 year old keeper, stink the tournament out and leave in embarrassment, set out a strategy for a post-world cup "new era"...
Rinse and repeat.

I am mildly pissed off that Moeen got runs today - that means he's a shoo-in for the T20 bollocks on Sunday and will miss Worcs' game against Surrey. Actually, make that very pissed off.

A 9 wicket and 20 over shellacking!!
Do England simply not care after the Test series win? Or are they really that bad at the short form?
So going into the JAMITT India in danger of being able to claim momentum and a moral victory?

Nothing will change though. What I loathe, though, is Cook's platitudinous, pack of lies, vanilla qunt interviews afterwards. Diabolical.
Neatly encapsulated.
A big issue for England appears to be that they build their innings around accumulators but these accumulators are struggling to accumulate.

Well what is there to be said?
The frustrating thing about England's latest ODI debacle is that WE HAVE talent in the wings. Roy, Vince, Taylor, Billings.....yet they can't seem to look past the same bunch of tried and failed rubbish.
What happened to the "brave, exciting cricket" that Cook and Moores promised at the start of the Summer? After a fairly promising ODI series win against the Windies in March, all the "brave cricket" has gone completely out the window.
And I have to say, I blame Alastair Cook as much as anyone. I hate to say it but as nice a guy as he is, the man is a cancer, eating away at English cricket. He's becoming as big a disruption to the England team as Kevin Pietersen ever was, for different reasons that KP.

JGK wrote:Are Test cricket and JAMODIs THAT different that a team can be so shit in one and so good in another and vice versa?
It is for England.
They are seemingly stuck in a time warp in ODI cricket - depending (as occurred 10 to 15 years ago)
upon accumulators to build an innings around.
They also have Cook who is, to everyone bar himself and three selectors, a gross embarrassment to English cricket
(albeit managing to pluck the rabbit out of the hat last month in the Test arena).
Throw all this into the pot, mix well, and the outcome is inept, clueless and ignominious cricket portrayed by cricketers
running around like headless chickens in a vain attempt to stifle the self-inflicted haemorrhage whilst failing miserably.

Re: England v India, 5xODIs + 1xT20, 25 August - 7 September, 2014
By the end of a game that had all the competitive elements of a day of seal clubbing, there could be no masking the flaws in the England ODI side. This wasn't a cricket match. It was a massacre.
Bowled out for the fifth time in six full-length ODIs - including every innings this series - they only avoided sinking to a first 10-wicket defeat in a home ODI when Ajinkya Rahane hit a full-toss to cover with victory in sight. This was 'sport' in the same way that shooting and fishing are sports. There was only ever going to be one winner.
England have now lost five ODIs in a row and five ODI series out of six. They are not building towards a World Cup challenge, they are crumbling ahead of it.
This sums it all up. As ever, there is no consequence for such underperformance. As you were. Your family is f*cking fantastic.

Tredwell and Stokes replace Gurney and Ballance. Will that be enough?...i somehow doubt it.

Kumar to Cook, FOUR, that's a Cook classic! Not a huge forward stride, but enough to cover the line as he caresses this through extra cover..
There is a God. Caress that round red thing Cookie, you go girl.

Mohammed Shami to Cook, FOUR, oh this is brilliant! He is getting better now.. Takes a tiny step forward and punches this length delivery on the up through mid-off.. that is as good a shot you will see from Cook. Straight bat, high elbow and all that jazz
Yes this is brilliant.

Two 60-ball 40's in a series is plenty.
