He got 100 runs in the series. A moral ton.

Scintillating ... just scintillating batting from England - and in particular the captain.
Or to put it another way ....brilliant, excitingly clever and skilful.
England can really really build on this show for the future.
Oh I forgot - it's a dead rubber .... curse it!

Re: England v India, 5xODIs + 1xT20, 25 August - 7 September, 2014
We're going to win this. Panic over, we're back on track. World Cup here we come.
Statistically we'll have a hundred percent winning record since this morning. That's progress.

Moeen making up for his gashlord shot selection when batting - same in the Tests.
I like him, though.
Fast becoming my favourite England player.

To borrow a well known phrase ..
"We murdered 'em!"
Now watch and wait for Cook to flash his cock and claim that victory was always coming his way...
...and how he is the bestest of the best to captain England in the WC Finals.
The sad fact is that the selectors will believe him.
Appoint and anoint him.
And England will fly home early.
So ...as you were - nothing's changed!

FFS. Another heavy loss might...MIGHT just have seen Cook off. As it is, it will be back-slapping and "told you so" s galore.
Am I the only one who is hoping that England lose? I just can't find any other way to deal with the stubbornness and arrogance that surrounds both the captain and the selectors.

Hussain: Do you now think you are the man to lead England?
Cook : (unflinchingly) ... Yes, without a doubt I am.
F**king moron.

So a token win for the Poms, ay. Good ton by Neph. He looked quite classy. Glad to see Ben Stokes have a decent game.
So, onto the Clown match to finish off the tour then.

He really said that
The problem lies beyond Cook, the coach and the selectors, as pathetic and inept as they all are. Those are just some of the problems that arise because of the people beyond them making awful decisions.

So, assuming that Cook stays as captain - and I don't think there's a realistic chance of him being replaced, who goes to S/L?
Cook
Hales
Moeen
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Bopara
Stokes
Woakes
Anderson
Tredwell
Taylor
Rashid
Willey
Finn
I think Rashid's time has come - I think he will have played for England across all formats by this time next year. Also, I think Willey has got something about him.

Hopefully they will look at one or two fresh faces but can't see too many changes. Senior players like Bell won't be pushed out before the World Cup. Ballance shouldn't be written off as a one-day player either, his domestic record shows he really can score quickly. We do need more batting firepower, and to move on from the likes of Cook and Bell, but it's as much an issue of mindset as personnel.

They got us over the line though, thanks to Dhoni's unwillingness to trust his partner with the strike.

How big is Dhoni's ego? Refusing to take singles when he has a specialist batsman at the other end.

Only caught the last couple of overs but that was piss funny, big man Dhoni turning down a couple of singles in the last over and doesn't get India over the line.

Yes, I saw Chris Woakes get lauded for only going for 14 in an over. 'Did very well', 'Excellent', 'A real find'. Last I checked, he went for 11 an over and picked up one wicket.

Yeah, deserved all he got for that.WideWally wrote:How big is Dhoni's ego? Refusing to take singles when he has a specialist batsman at the other end.
Kohli made his highest score of the tour, in the sole T20 match of the itinerary...
