Bangladesh were so pleased with the result of their decision to field first in the 1st test that they have decided to send the Windies in again.
Currently West Indies 0/39

They sent 'em in again? Deary me.
Another crabbish day of just 246 runs. Tailor made for another red ink for Shiv.

Is Leon Johnson being considered a controversial selection? Middle order player with 2 FC centuries only, but opening the innings here.
Bangladesh were poor in the first session.

Ian Bishop mentioned that it should be embarrassing for openers in Windies domestic cricket that none of them are considered good enough to be picked for the test team. I've always thought Kieran Powell looked a good player worth sticking with, though.

Jerome Taylor has changed the momentum of the Windies innings. At the moment he is 32 not out off 27 balls. Meanwhile, Chanderpaul is still doing his crab impersonation.

From the Cricinfo commentary -
"Amazing stat regarding Brathwaite. Out of his 911 runs, only 91 have come while batting in the second innings. Averages from first and second innings are 59 and 9 respectively, with 4 of his 6 ducks coming in the second innings. However, since his second coming, he has averaged over 100 in the first, and because he has been so good in the first, he barely had a chance to make a significant score in the second innings."

Looks a decent effort by the Bangers to roll the Windies for 380. Golf clap to Shiv for more slow red ink. But again it all turns to poo when the Bangles strap the pads on. 7/104 - oh dear.

Two of the most selfish innings you would ever see.
Facing a poor bowling attack & he only has one thing on his mind - his batting statistics. Disgraceful.

He's just too old to make runs quickly, and too stubborn to get out. Perhaps they should save him for those series where his resilience is still a virtue, and use these lightweight series to check out their youngsters?

I guess you kind of have to have a grudging admiration for the way that Shiv continues to grind away into his 40s. He remains the hardest batsman in world cricket to get out. And the fact is, he's still streets ahead of any other West Indian batsman going around at the moment.
I haven't seen him bat recently, but I'm guessing these days his scoring shots are limited to the flick through square leg and the dab behind point. Can't imagine there's many shots in front of the wicket. A bit like Ali Cook, who is 10 years younger, but batting like a 40 year old has-been on his last, desperate legs.

By the way, has anyone else noticed that Kemar Roach has 110 test wickets in 28 tests at an average of 25? That's pretty good going. Statistically, I can think of only Steyn, Philander, and Harris (who is unlikely to play tests again) who would be better as fast bowlers.

Agree, even though he probably struggles to force the pace these days he should at least refrain from blocking given the likelihood that the Bangers will pose no particular threat in response. He wouldn't be too happy one imagines though if they selected youngsters ahead of him when his resilience would make it pretty hard to drop him on face value.
He did score a highly meritorious ton against us a few years back. And Roach is pretty impressive, especially given the relatively docile tracks in the Caribbean.
