heard big show raving about how well Lyon bowled
nothing really notable from the match other than the PM failed with bat and ball as did fork

Its a bit hard when you are sent in at no. six & are expected to make up for the failures of the lower order (Finch & Maxwell et al)
Admittedly, his bowling has fallen away slightly..

Good start for Pakistan though they may have to lift the rate on a flattish pitch.

Aust get home in a low scoring game. Pakistan openers started well but once Johnson & Doherty saw them off the rest didn't offer much resistance. Maxwell was the top score for Aust amongst a string of mediocre returns but it was enough to get home easily.

Soooo....Pakistan fall in a predictable heap but then miracles happen and NoShow bats responsibly? WTF??!!!

Aus sneak home by one run. The dreadful shame is you just don't know how genuine this result is. [sigh]

Nice catch by Smith! Would have looked silly if the batsman had snicked it to slip though ...

Pakistan look a shambles. And rumour has it that Misbah is close to being pressured into retirement. Afridi is out of form (although he bowled better last night), and the young players are all flash and no substance. They're like a schoolboy team, really.

So what is the Flaming Bails opinion on the Smith catch off Fawad?
I am not sure if I am totally comfortable with its legality.

nup...if batsmen do not have to give notice of switch hitting I say fair enough, fieldsman can move...
fieldsmen in the deep or closer are always on the move as the bowler comes in
I thought it great cricket from Smith

I say a bowler (if he wants to) should be able to bowl over or around the wicket without notice. Make the non-striking batsman stand well wide of the pitch, and the bowler can decide as he's running in whether he bowls over or around the wicket. He could run in directly behind the umpire and make his decision at the last minute.
