Cricket All-Stars Series
Did we have a thread about this? I was busy.
This was a three match T20 exhibition series held a few weeks ago in the USA.
The matches were held at baseball stadiums in New York, Houston and Los Angeles using drop in pitches. I wonder about the suitability of baseball fields for cricket: they are usually only 100 metres across and kind of diamond shaped.
There were thirty odd players involved, all good-to-great retired players, mostly in their 40s. Warne's Warriors beat Sachin's Blasters in all three matches.
The attendance numbers were decent if unspectacular (36000, 27000, 21000) so perhaps there could be a viable market there.

I think there was some chat. I watched highlights of a couple of the games. You are right. Baseball stadiums are the wrong shape.

Looked to be largely Indian expats in the crowds, don't think it made much of a dent outside that group.

I saw it, but I then saw the boundary ropes and thought it wasn't worth a mention. 45 yards, straight! Fock. That.

So now we have the Masters Champions League. The eligibility is a bit confusing.

Re: Cricket All-Stars Series
Obviously the MCL auction crept under the radar. Some strange names and amounts paid.

Kallis is certainly squeezing every last drop of T20 earnings out of his body before it gives out and he retires to a hammock with a bucket of chicken.

Barrels of chicken, not buckets.
Strange squads.

I'm surprised some of the players there even bothered. Surely they can earn more than what was bid for them doing things that won't strain their ageing bodies?

Is the MCL and any 'masters' type cricket the modern day equivalent of the Victorian style freak shows?
The barrel is well and truly being scraped.
