Funny stories emerging of whingeing about the long thick rough at the course. Shrillest commentary coming from US players like the appalling Kevin Na.

McIlroy, Day and Scott providing sage balance. Really looking forward to this Open.

You don't really expect anything all that positive to come from a bloke called Naaa

Whinging about rough in the long grass? Would never have happened in Tiger's day.....

I see Floppy Phil is in California attending to family matters and will only play the Open if there's a weather delay!!!

"Late on Tuesday afternoon, Jim (Bones) MacKay (Mickelson's caddy) was strolling around the grounds of Erin Hills.
...
His lifelong boss is in fact in California, working on his game and looking forward to his daughter’s high school graduation on Thursday. It will take a series of small miracles and large weather delays for Phil Mickelson to somehow make his 2:20 p.m. tee time.
...
Phil has said he needs about a four-hour weather delay to have a chance. Forecasts show the potential for thunderstorms on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday but, alas, Thursday is supposed to be clear. If that changes, and Phil blow out of Southern California in his Gulfstream, it will be a journey like no other."

---------------------------------------------

Now that's family commitment. I hope it's fine on Thursday!!! Twisted Evil

I see the 18th is 637 yds long. Nice.

Lots of bleating about the length of the course (>8,000 yds), length of the rough and difficulties of the greens. Pussies.

I agree about the complaints regarding the 8000 yard course. Will just make the play even slower, and with likes of Day leading the field, that's the last thing anyone would want.

Aye. Hit straight (as players at this level should) and you're fine. Pay the price for a hook or slice.

Johnny Miller - what a dick. On Justin Thomas equalling his Us Open low round of 63:

“It’s interesting to see where the USGA has gone with the US Open, being a little more friendly than in years’ past.

“For one, the greatness of my round is the 63 in the last round of the US Open to win by one.

“Everything else is way secondary. If somebody does it tomorrow to win the U.S. Open by one, that’s the specialness of my round. And secondly, Erin Hills isn’t exactly Oakmont.”

Miller's always been a twat on commentary. He isn't wrong, though. I see this more as a USPGA course than US open course.

Very pleased that Pepperell has gone well, and hoping dearly for Fleetwood to get the win.

Has anyone else noticed how Brian Harman is a dead-ringer for a young Ricky Ponting?  Shocked

Fantastic by Koepka. Always got a bit of time for a Seppo who plays his way to the PGA tour through other continental tours. Not too long ago (2012/13) that he was tearing shit up in the challenge tour.

Of course, used to think Uilhein would have the better career of the two Americans in Europe back then.

And ****** off Henry. That's all I'll see now. He even looks the same without the cap.
