The two cloth-techniqued batsmen are keeping us in this... Shame they chose northern venues in May. Shame May is so shit, mind you...
Re: England v Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Headingley, 19-23 May, 2016
So Hales saves the day, as Mudges lovechild fails. Great Trevving.

Watched the first two sessions. Good comeback by England after giving the 'Lankans some early slips catching practice.

Sideways movement at Headingley in May. Truly, a 'no shit Sherlock' moment.

The movement was played pretty poorly by most of the batsmen though.... Sometimes I think the Test boys are penalised by not playing much CC, especially early doors....
Re: England v Sri Lanka, 1st Test, Headingley, 19-23 May, 2016
That's what it looked like, Dan. Chef and Hearty were so very cautious against the military medium stuff from the Lankans, then Compton, Root, Vince and Stokes just looked out of touch, feeling tentatively for the ball.
Kudos to Jonny. He came in and said "fark this, this bowling is tosh" and treated it as such.

They have no excuse this season though. Chef, for example managed for matches for Essex

An ounce of luck for Jonny with Pradeep dropping a pretty simple return catch chance. Other than that, he's looked in control.
Could be a big one here for him. And Hales.

Hales gets tempted by Herath and spoons one to deep cover. Decent knock, holding up his end as the collapse unfolded at the other end.
