Re: Celebrity Death List MMXVII/The Death Thread 2017
The Jon Faine Convo Hour had a bloke called Ross Simpson on, to promote the Quambatook Tractor Pull (googled it - it does exist). This guy sounded incredibly like John Clarke and went off at the same kind of tangents. It was only after you could still hear his voice in the background when Jon & the bloke after him were forward-promoting, that I was convinced 'Ross S' WASN'T an old JC skit being recycled in honor.

I listened to that too. Jon was very emotional at the start of the hour. He recalled earlier in the program, how he last spoke with JC in the foyer last Thursday.

The last episode of Clarke and Dawe.
BTW, just on Jack Cameron, I didn't realise that he toured with Richie Benaud's 1961 team as scorer.

Very sad news. Dawe alone this week will be incredibly emotional.
So many memories of him ... not just Calrke and Dawe, but the Gillies report, Fred Dagg, The Games, Crackerjack.

Still mourning the loss of John Clarke.
Here's a nice (sample) link for those unfamiliar with his work, or for those who want to re-visit:

ABC several times, rado and tv has played ex erpts from the Games. My favourite is Clarke taking the aths field contractor to task for producing the 'around about 100 metres track'. Farnarkling gold!

It would be a tragedy if the heavily bandaged but perpetually lithe Dave Sorensen does not make an appearance at the funeral.

RIP.
I presume, Mr bucket, that you followed him long before "Freeze Frame" and "Centrefold" - his biggest hits.

Never realised there was a bloke called J Geils, always just assumed it was a name Peter Wolfe had made up for the band...RIP JG

Early news sounds as though he too may have exhausted his will to live. There is a lot of that about.

Some of the tributes on TV news only show a split second of Mr Geils & his guitar. The clips concentrate on Peter Wolf. People are likely to think that he is the one who is no longer with us.
