The pitch looks very flat, not a typical Saffer deck, or one you would expect them to offer the Bangers. So it could be a very high scoring test.
Care to explain what a typical SA deck is?
One that tends to be more bowler-friendly than most others around the globe. Statistically speaking, for example, SA is meant to be the hardest place to open in the world.
So Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg have similar wickets?

Would be up there.
Surprised that Elgar hasn't moved to another gear. He's been scoring at a rate of mid-forties for most of the innings and yet they're 1/411 with some decent batters to come.
As for the previous question, not all SA pitches are the same of course, but most sub-continent batsmen, and for that matter kiwis, find that pitches generally quicker and bouncier than what they are used to on home soil.

Dry pitch and a lot of runs. Elgar grassed a couple. Thought SA should have got on with it. Bavuma was very defensive considering the massive scoreboard pressure they had created. Quick runs were the order of the day and Quinton didn't even get a hit.

This is following the predicted path.
Well done to SAf for not grinding out 600.
Unlucky for Elgar.

I'll take your word - haven't seen it. Merely saying 199 seems an unlucky finish to a long innings.

Tenth player to be out for 199 in Tests (first Yarpie). There's also been a single instance of 299...

Fourteen wickets off no balls.
Another slip catch down. SA used to have such a great cordon. Has deteriorated somewhat in the past few seasons.

Bangers won't make the 370 odd runs needed, but SA need to beat some forecast rain to take seven wickets.
Morkel is nursing a side strain.

Things are crook in kalamagook when Mominul is your main wicket taker.

It's a flat pitch. A few of the batsmen finally got a wriggle on in the end to set a target.

Morkel out for six weeks at least with side strain. Rabada stepping up for them this morning.

Bangers lowest ever fourth innings score and third heaviest defeat. SA only lost nine wickets for the game. Pretty diabolical from Bang given the pitch would suit them more than most outside Asia.
