Re: Zuma and Magabe gone
Good riddance to both, but will the new bloke be any better (than Zuma)?
I see that one of his credentials is in helping broker the IRA disarmament as the Irish 'troubles' settled down, so I'm thinking yes.

A disgrace that both get to keep their ill-gotten wealth. Both should be in jail.

Re: Zuma and Magabe gone
Yeah that was more than a little bit out of line. But can we all remember that this man spent a lot of time in prison for his beliefs. I've just seen a lot of people unloading on him and I'd like to think I'd go to jail for my beliefs but probably not. And the guys he replaced were total farking arseholes.
And before taips arcs in it was the South African govt that set him up. They were literally shitting themselves about the alternative. The alternative would have been a bit better but hey ooops. Farked that call up.

Bradders, I am not quite sure where you are going with this. Sure he did time in gaol, but so did Mandela and he didn't turn into a power mad, corrupt despot. Neither did he face rape charges.
And no Zuma, hasn't got away with it. There is the small matter of the 783 corruption charges from the arms deals in the 90's he has to face. His only hope of ducking those was if his ex wife was elected.

Re: Zuma and Magabe gone
Well I was talking about Rhodesia and Mugabe. And he wasn't anyone's first choice back then. My point about the jail time was I probably wouldn't do it, would you? He was probably smart enough to know that he wouldn't have been an effective military commander or at least before he killed Samora Michel he listened to him.
Actually I spose my main point is where is the money? And if there is money out there why isn't he living it up in Honk Kong? The guy might be a 22 carat qunt but so what. He might be a totally corrupt arsehole but the only thing you can say about Smith and the lads is they were a little bit better than the qunts further south.

Re: Zuma and Magabe gone
Okay, I was on the wrong track with Zuma and his gaol time.
And yes, I have no time for the NP regime. They had a unique chance in Africa to build a stabile, prosperous, black middle class. And they blew it totally.

Re: Zuma and Magabe gone
Well I can almost guarantee you guys didn't do it. He was the only person with anything to gain. Though it could just have been a case of a Soviet pilot and a bottle vodka.
