Re: Celebrity Death List MMXVIII/The Death Thread 2018
RIP Keith Murdoch, no not Filthy Ruperts dad snuffing it all over again, but the All Black rugby player aged 74. Am certain Mr Dog would be all over this blokes story.
He was a massive prop and was sent home from Wales in Outer Pomgoliavafter decking a bloke in a bar.
He never lived in Sheepville again, preferring to live in the Oz outback.

Very strange story, but the truth is that he was sent home for punching a security guard who refused to let him into a locked pub in the middle of the night

Aye. A strange person. The Sheep were obsessed with him. Ended up a recluse.

What's the deal in SA taips - is it career suicide for ANC or other bigwigs to bring up any of the murky (and that's a polite way of putting it) stuff she was allegedly involved in? Is she just to be venerated and anything awakward just airbrushed out of history?

Some of this stuff might answer my own questions. From our own BBC no less...
"In the face of exploitation, she was a champion of justice and equality," he said on Monday. (He being Cyril Ramaphosa).
Retired archbishop and Nobel laureate Desmond Tutu - "Her courageous defiance was deeply inspirational to me, and to generations of activists," he added.
"As the ANC we dip our revolutionary banner in salute of this great icon of our liberation struggle," he said. (He being Energy Minister Jeff Radebe).
(ANC) chairperson Gwede Mantashe said: "...She was one of those who would tell us exactly what is wrong and right, and we are going to be missing that guidance."

I guess death erases sin. She survived a pretty nasty war. Who can say what the effect on her psyche it had.

The good that men do is oft interred with their bones ... and death erases sin.

Did you deliberately misquote that? And my liver is on it's last legs.

I accentuated the second bit of Bill’s quote and contrasted it with the absolution of all sins at demise. I was also referencing Mrs Brown’s liver, and her cavalier attitude to its retention when confronted with the utter pointlessness of life.

If you are talking about the Ronaldo goal that has been plastered all over the media in the past day or two, personally I prefer the Wilkins strike to the Ronaldo. Those overhead kicks don't do a lot for me. The press made much of a Rooney goal from an overhead kick a few years ago but it came off his shin. In the same week, an Australia in the A League also scored from an overhead kick but it came cleanly off his foot, a far superior strike.

Yeah but a curving kick from 30m is easier and doesn't look as speccy.

Re: Celebrity Death List MMXVIII/The Death Thread 2018
Ray W at age 19 was appointed Captain of Chelsea in the aftermath of the Minions of Satan being relegated after 74-75 (an occasion behind only Sobers last Test ton in the category 'Events I was chuffed-as to be living in England for'). He made his England debut the next year from Div 2, which was unusual, and took Chelsea back to Div 1 at the second try. Half the superannuated thugs that had put them down had been sacked and he had had to pull the other half into line. As the team junior.
I can think of another XI with a similarly bad reputation, slightly closer to home, that could do with some RW-style leadership right now.

Eric Bristow, five times world champ in Darts pegs out at 60. Darts of course is the one game the Pomgolians excel at. RIP.

RIP to a legend. A the great Sid Waddell once said of him:
"When Alexander of Macedonia was 33, he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer … [Eric] Bristow's only 27."

Re: Celebrity Death List MMXVIII/The Death Thread 2018
Geez, only 60. He said the following in this article:
"When I began playing in pubs, I was mixing with fortysomethings so I grew up quick. One thing that struck me was the number who worked hard and looked forward to fulfilling their retirement plans only to never reach that age – or to lose their health and not be able to fulfil their plans.
My philosophy is you've got to enjoy life while you can – there's not much point being the richest man in the graveyard. So long as you've got enough money to get by, why not spend the rest?"
-------------------------------------------------
He clearly enjoyed his fortune. RIP to the Crafty Cockney.
