If Puttanesca bats all day the Bannies will achieve a draw. At the moment they are going at around 1.5 rpo.
The hopes of the Bannies rely on Nohit and Panderer

And one would have thought that that was off the table.
Faf's overs of defiance worth a lot in terms of the psychological barrier for the Indians.

Now that The Anderson Cycle has become such a non-event, with consistency replacing the previous pendulum swings, is it time to start speaking of The Sharma Cycle?
If so, are the paler offerings still Bage or should that now be spelled Bhaje?

I've just had a further absurd/random thought about Ishant's pendulum swings ... he's the Sharma Chameleon.
Of course he looks a bit like George, too.

I'm a bit surprised he hasn't been dubbed Boy George before today. The Sharma Chameleon performance makes it even more apt.

Punjaba has done a Tubby and been run out in both innings. Amateur hour in Bannietown.

The record for most run outs in a Test is 7 (does anybody know which one without checking?) so it doesn't look like that's going to be beaten unfortunately.

What do you think on 3-0? Even if it is a whitewash this has been a far more interesting series than the Ashes.

I think Wanderers might be a lot quicker.

What India need to do to sort their away issues is to play a hastily arranged series in Sri Lanka.
But tbh, it has been a decent series. Clearly been the second best team, but have been well in the match on both occasions. Ngidi seems to be bloody good.

After a slowish Centurion, one imagines the curator at Joburg will produce something more akin to a SA strip.
Anyway, they didn't make lunch. Ngidi adds to their pace strength.
BTW, since I raised his name here first last week, it's been a meteoric rise for the youngster.

Tame capitulation by the "we-travel-like-shit" Bannies.
Well done to Ngidi and SAf.

I'll have a guess, and nominate the 1968-69 Test Australia v West Indies which finished in a draw, with Paul Sheahan and Alan Connolly hanging on grimly after 4 run outs earlier in that 4th innings had reduced the Australians from likely winners with two well set batsmen to a position of desperate survival and no runs risked at all.
Given that there were 4 run outs in that innings I'm hoping there may have been 3 more across the rest of the Test.

Have now checked, and I am wrong.
However I remember the match MoH refers to very well, remember watching most of it on TV, just never realised it had achieved this lofty statistical quirk. The match is more memorable to me for the last Test centuries of two Australian batsmen and the first Test bowling foray of an absolute Australian legend.

Also, only 33 wickets fell in the match so over 20% of the dismissals were run outs.
I found this in my search for the answer. I note that despite Inzi having a reputation as a poor runner he is in none of the lists either as the batsman run out or running out a partner. Some surprising names in the most run outs effected list as well.

No sign of Katich on the list, but horrie's favourite scratching post is near the top.

During the ABC's Ashes coverage, they rehashed the extraordinary run out stats involving K Snr. Fleas was commentating at the time and when the stat came up he was asked his view. To Fleas credit* he managed an embarrassed silence and shifted topic.

It would appear that batting with Asif Iqbal was a very dangerous occupation.
IIRC at least one of his tailend rescue acts (with Iqbal Qasim) was only terminated in this fashion.
Running out nearly 7% of your partners over a Test career is a pretty shambolic effort.
