I was just thinking “what a shit review” there, before the ultra-edge proved he actually gloved it.

They've twice called Broad "Sturat" on the BBC live text.

Decent lead for Engulund thanks to Buttler, and Wacksters in early strife in I2.

If you didn't have much experience of cricket ... and know this England team ... and Pakistan cricket ... you'd have no comprehension at all of these two mirror-image Test matches.

To give credit (albeit conditional - see previous post) to new head selector Smith, his hunches have mostly not proved so bad after all so far.

Yeah, it can be more about character and “X factor” than technique and county average a lot of the time.PeterCS wrote:To give credit (albeit conditional - see previous post) to new head selector Smith, his hunches have mostly not proved so bad after all so far.
He will probably need to find a top order batsman or two in order to really move this team on, but our strength remains the lower middle order counter-attack against the old ball. If we have some combination of Bairstow, Stokes, Woakes, Buttler, Ali, even Bess from 5 downwards, that’s going to do some damage against tiring attacks. We just need to not have them coming in at 50 for 3 or 4 all the time.

Anyway, it’s onto the shorter stuff for a couple of months now... a stay of execution for Littlefinger in terms of the Test coaching role.
I suspect sandpaper sales in England are going to go through the roof shortly, particularly the yellow variety!

Well the paksters did enough in t1 without being impressive. So the turnaround wasn't that much of a surprise.

First Test series in England since 1890 (presumably excluding one-off Tests?) not to feature an individual score over 80.

A typical Jekyll and Hyde Pakster series.
