Does look like another Yarpsville Massacre, tho they are doing pretty well so far.
Expect Nigel is working on his analysis of the match. Expect 'selection issues' will featur.

Not now. It's a series where nobody, bar perhaps Maharaj has enhanced his reputation.
It's a far cry for their excellent performances against India and oz.

He has been on a downward spiral for some time. Maybe de Bruyn will take his spot.
And yes Skully, it should be over by luncheon tomorrow.

Aye. Since Hash dined out on the Banger bowling for 2 tons in a home series in mid 2017, he has played 10 Tests for 444 runs at 23.36.
The funeral dirge is playing.

These pitches, though... turning square on day one. And another among a series of boring test matches.

Looks like the Jaaps have unearthed a fighting talent in de Bruyn.
Deficit down to nearly 200, which is way closer than I thought they'd get.

Hello, Herath just bowled de Bruyn.
Well played, nonetheless.
Michelle to the little leftie.

Steyn and Rabada match figures of 1-187. Not too great. Still no sign of Nige. He's probably locked himself in the loft.

I quite like it.
The only surprising thing here is that people are surprised. You cannot go into a tour in the middle of your off season, and with virtually no warm up, and play decent cricket.
It's what I hate most about modern test cricket.

And you might add on tracks where the world's top ranked quick isn't given any assistance early on day one.
Big positive de Bruyn clearly justifying faith in his talent. Negative Amla's inexorable decline and de Kock struggling after looking stellar with the bat earlier in his career.

So no congrats to the Lankans?
Both teams played the same conditions, just as they do when Tests are held in Yarpsville. Expect the recent ball tampering episodes meant both skippers were circumspect in the field. Makes for fairer cricket which is a good thing.

Should add that the Prince's effort in bowling through the Lankans 2nd dig deserves kudos.
