I'm dropping Curran for either Wood or Leach, depending on the pitch. Curran does not have the pace or yet the skill-set to be a threat away from English conditions.

Noddy suspended for slow over-rate apparently... they will miss his batting, bowling and reviewing skills (surely he has to follow his namesakes John and Vanburn into umpiring post-playing career...)

Wonderful from ICC once again. Punish the biggest superstar of this series for over rate in a game that didn't last 3 days. Now watch the spectators flock to ground and TV ratings soar.

I think he’s more new Dominic Cork, really... has the infectious enthusiasm and ability to turn a game, but perhaps not the pace or guile to get wickets when the ball doesn’t swing.
Obviously, he’s only 20, plenty of time to develop all aspects of his game, even though he’s not likely to ever be express pace. Too many promising youngsters don’t press on, though, so it’s up to him to find his real identity as a cricketer long term.

I wonder if the Poms will receive yet another Gros Inlet (up the dinger) from the Ganjas. Holder is a loss.

Surely this wasn't Holder's first offence?

Makes sense in terms of the balance of the side, but I don’t think either Jennings or Denly are up to it, and I’d have dropped Buttler or Bairstow over Foakes.
Expecting another shitshow from the England batting line-up in any case. One or two files to be stamped NTPFEA(ITAL) by the end of it, perhaps.

Foakes has got to be dead unlucky or at least very hardly done by.
If he was an Aussie under The Gnome's tutelage he'd have at least another 20 Tests to prove himself.

The selection process is in chaos. Dropping Foakes is bad enough, but Jennings? FFS how many openers are there who are better players of spin than seam?skully wrote:Foakes has got to be dead unlucky or at least very hardly done by.

We haven’t got any other openers in the squad, in case you hadn’t noticed...Basil wrote:The selection process is in chaos. Dropping Flakes is bad enough, but Jennings? I’d sooner have sent Bairstow or Buttler up there, or even one of the bowling all-rounders, with said player just told that they can have a slog. Ideal situation to try something really radical.

I'd sort of noticed the lack of batting options but thanks for pointing it out though. There was still no case to be made for recalling Jennings.beamer wrote:We haven’t got any other openers in the squad, in case you hadn’t noticed...Basil wrote:The selection process is in chaos. Darren Sammy Stadium, that’s certainly cheaping ground naming honours...

More starts, but nobody going on.
Root needs to give up the captaincy or drop himself down to 6.
