Good news is, Archie was an outstanding bat.

Ashes gone again. The most pathetic top order in test cricket's top six teams. Frail and inept.

Nothing surer than a Stokes ton here.

England to be 4/310 at stumps - Ashes virtually regained.
Half right.

I've seen better displays of competence by England batting.

Follow-on has been averted, at least.

Embarrassing yet wholly predictable display of batting ineptitude. Can't actually think of a worse batting unit England have had - even in the dark days of the 90s we had smatterings of Test quality players.
Grim.

Mr JGK has done some astonishing legendary work today, even by his Olympian standards.
It was great to see another duck from England's creepy Captain.
Pretty even game really, with the Poms likely to put on a few for the 7th wicket and the odious Broad sure to carve a few runs away from the comfort of square leg.

Not even England can manage -21 all out yet... give it time though.PeterCS wrote:Follow-on has been averted, at least.
I think a 50% rule should apply for follow-on.

Interesting the one player who has looked most comfortable is the one who spent the most hours batting in the middle during the CC season.

Re: England v Australia, 3rd Test, Headingley, 22-26 August, 2019
This is the worst England batting lineup I have ever seen, and considering I lived through the 90s, that’s saying something.
I don’t think I’m being knee jerk when I say that Root has to go as captain. He has no feel for the game, is clearly unable to inspire any fight in his team, and perhaps worst of all, his batting seems to be in decline since he became captain.

Not only go as captain, he needs dropping/resting for the remainder of the summer and perhaps the winter.

Archer protected Broad from Cummins.

Captain Creepy Jumpin JoBalls might consider a sporting declaration to protect Broad. Leach looking to take a single here.

Does the next best thing and gets out.
I really thought this would make Day 4. Looking unlikely. Poms are likely to be batting again today.

Aussies could forfeit and win by tea.
110 for 18 now, this isn’t Test cricket, it’s a turkey shoot.

England 2015 onwards in tests looks basically like England up to 2015 in ODIs.
