They could sack Tawny and ship Nickelare back home to make room for TGM and Gilly.

Channel 9's commentary box is fit to bursting point as it is - they can't get any more former players in surely?!

It'd be funny if he replaced Heals in the commentary box too.

First test 2002-3 Ashes. Gilly on a pair. Comes in and second ball to Giles hits him over his head for a 6.

Dead set legend.

Astle's 153 ball double ton came after Gilly's 213 ball double, didn't it?

How about when he walked in the 2003 Gilly? I reckon just about all of us here were saying 'WTF?' but it showed a lot of guts and class to do it.

Without checking the records, you're correct PK, but there wasn't much in it.

I still go back to his second Test in Hobart v Pakistan when he and JL put on 250-odd in the fourth innings, on a pitch that was meant to be turning sideways, and Aust chased down about 370 which was meant to be impossible.

Buckeroo, why don't you go stick your head up a dead camel's bum three times and pull it out again twice?

Unfortunately Gilly only held the fastest 200 record for a few days. Gilly made his 204* in just 212 balls, the fastest at the time. Just a day or so later Nathan Astle made a double v Poms in just 153 balls.

Still - he ends his career with the second fastest 100 and second fastest 200.

Edit - actually I see that he now "only" has the 4th fastest 200.

I don't see anything special happening tomorrow .. atleast vis-a-vis the scoring rate. Indians are pursuing a very negative line wide outside offstump.
