Re: Corona Virus
The mother of the Principal of my son's school passed away overnight with Covid. She was otherwise fit and healthy it seems.
It's freaking Russian roulette.

There have now been 299 deaths from this outbreak in NSW and this goes missing in broader conversations. Many of these people were young, relatively young and pretty healthy.

Re: Corona Virus
What also goes missing in broader conversations is that Victoria's testing rate is about one third of NSW's.
It's a safe bet to say Vic has many more cases than the 700-odd currently being reported.

Skully my post wasn't meant to compare the states, it was more about how there are human stories behind the death stats which are sometimes brushed away as collateral damage.
Recently we have been testing in the 50-60,000 per day but as per usual most of the cases are in the northern suburbs which we can never control. There hasn't been a COVID case in my suburb for about a year.

Furry muff.
I thought you were doing your common sledging of NSW.
Mea Culpa.

No, as mentioned it was specifically in response to the death that JGK referred to.

Still, the mother of JGK's Principal's son would presumably not quality as either young or relatively young, so forgive me for assuming a sledge.

Re: Corona Virus
NSW numbers starting to fall rapidly. Perhaps the worst of this wave is over, North of the border.
Victoria, on the other hand, looks destined to follow a similar trajectory to recent events in NSW. Perhaps Brisbane will, too.

Yes but not in the same proportion. One calculation I've been keeping an eye on is cases over tests. Up to a couple of months ago the ratio hovered round 1:100. Today's numbers are from just under 65,500 tests, so about 1 in 45 were positive.

Re: Corona Virus
Apparently the long weekend has contributed to this growth in cases. Also there were the mass gathering protests over the past week or so. The long weekend should have been cancelled given that there was no game in the city and in theory nowhere to go. According to the interviews conducted with the infected, many people have broken the rules and visited their broader families and friends.

The protests and Granny parties seem to be the culprits.

Re: Corona Virus
I might also be visiting Northern Territory in a few days time but that is dependent on whether I have to quarantine due to the present situation in SEQ.

Re: Corona Virus
Why do pollies consistently over promise. Morrison today claiming we can live CV19 free when we hit 80% of popln 16+ double vaxxed.
Ireland has 90% of their adult popln double vaxxed but had 1271 new cases yesterday and 40 deaths in the past week.

Fished in Kakadu
Annaleigh pulled in a Barra (undersized) a Saratoga and a Tarpin
I caught a few trees some weed and I hooked a fish at one point but it jumped off pretty quick
Saw one of the alpha male crocs kill another croc on our Yellow Water cruise ....brutal

Re: Corona Virus
Crikey, Chairman Dan has really turned his thoughts around.
Vic has 1903 new cases today, yet Vic is ending lockdown this week.
Still, apparently* modelling has shown that the current level of double vax in Vic will mean Covid deaths will halve over coming months.
Well done Vic.
