West Indies v England, 3rd Test, St. George’s, 24-28 March, 2022
So, any chance of a result pitch, or will the Somerset Sloggers Shield be shared in a 0-0 snoozer?
Hosts likely to be unchanged. Overton and Robinson back in the mix for England, so we might rotate our medium-pace trundlers. Good runs for most of the batsmen so far, but Lees needs a score, even if he will more than likely get a run in the side at the start of the home summer regardless.

Is it too much to hope that Parky might get a game?

If it’s going to turn square and Leach happens to McGrath a stray ball in the warm-up, perhaps. They’d still probably leave Root and Lawrence to handle the spin duties.

Robinson's back has gone again which will probably mean a reprieve for Woakes.

Just the one change, Window back for Fisher (do we have a name for him yet? I’ll go with Donald, from the Home and Away character, not sure if more Aussies watched that than Neighbours…)Basil wrote:Robinson's back has gone again which will probably mean a reprieve for Woakes.
Woakes was always going to be retained as the senior seamer by a distance, he hasn’t done his prospects of going on any more tours too much good though hard to judge much at all on these pitches. Anderson and Broad will probably be relieved they didn’t have to slog away for little reward on the surfaces we saw the past couple of weeks. If we are going to give one/both a final fling this summer they’ll be more refreshed and ready for it.

Anal. Anal Fisher. Painful but memorable.

Maybe if he proves himself as a FFS…
Anyway, is this going to be the session of madness that loses us the series?

Let me put it out there that I think there will be a result in this match.

Woakes will enjoy this pitch, and earn a further reprieve!

Either the ball has gone soft or the pitch has lost some of its venom.

50+ for the last wicket ... about a third of the team total
Mahmood hits his first six in FC cricket ...
Leach top scores for the side at number 10 ...
It's all happening.

200 up now, and Mini-Saj top scoring at #11 as of now!
Only 11 previous instances in Test cricket history.

And he goes one short of a deserved 50.
Still, first #11 to top-score for England since Harmison in 2005 v SA, which was our only previous instance. A couple of contrasting Aussie ones in between from Agar and Lyon.

Wow, was it a green top?
Well done to Leach and Mahmood on an impressive 10th wicket "rescue".

Hopefully that rearguard action will have demoralised them and they’ll crumble. Keep them down to a lead of 50 and we’re well in it, which is a lot more than I’d have imagined at 90-8.

Well, after a solid start they crumbled in the middle. Ablocker Da Silva rebuilding along with the more adventurous tailender Joseph.

Looks like a slim first innings lead for England, which puts them in the box seat in the match.

Or maybe not. WI’s MYTYT makes 50 and puts them in front.
Anyone’s guess what this pitch will do for the rest of the match.

This could quickly become a match-winning lead. With the light meters coming out every over, time to hit them with a couple of bouncers and come back tomorrow.

Think that’s an unassailable lead now. England as usual had Norfolk Nadia about how to finish off the tail.

Appears that pissing away our reviews cost us what could be a decisive 50 or so runs, as well.
Did someone say Broad for captain?
