Congrats to Jimmeh.
A remarkable effort for a quick.

Outside chance of a result. A quick England wrap up of the Snoozie innings and a 270-ish chase, maybe.

Can't see NZ winning this (too easy to shut up shop) but England are a big chance if they are batting before lunch.

I really wouldn’t rule it out.Basil wrote:beamer wrote:A milestone only previously reached by two bowlers (I’m sure Aussies would say only one bowler…)Basil wrote:Wicket number 650 for Jimmy.
So, he's only 58 behind Warnie. No, he can't surely........
Broad’s only 19 behind McGrath now as well!

263 in 2 sessions with 9 wickets left, then. Crawley gone cheaply again, he will be in the last chance saloon next time around (timely century from Burns, and Ben Compton keeps scoring runs…)
Stokes and McCullum will surely go for this, whereas the old regime would have shut up shop.

England should do this with Jamieson missing.

Stokes won’t mess around. Still around 45 overs to survive when there’s only three batsmen of note left, I think the draw’s out of the picture now and it’s probably 75% NZ, 25% England.

A couple of hours of carnage… now a glimmer for the Snoozers, but even our ‘90s tail should be able to do it from here.

Stokes, on one leg, finishes it with a boundary as per Headingley 2019.
How the two of them average below 40 in Tests I’ve no idea. With the series settled will they have a look at Brook, especially if the captain’s knee is dodgy? No idea who’s VC at the moment, might be a case of raise your hand if you want a go!

... and not just us Beams. That asterisk against MuMu's record is in bright red neon.
Have watched a lot of this Test with a level of fascinated horror at the pitch and the 'dropsy' that affected both mobs when fielding. That said there was outstanding knocks from both teams and spells from some of the bowlers. I really enjoyed Stokes D2 spell in the post lunch session. He bowled tightly and got movement both ways. he still got smote.
I have little time for "Here's Jonny" but he played a great ODI type knock on D5 and it was a pity he was not there at the end.
Congrats Pomgolia and commiss. Snoozies.
Ps What is it in NZ that encourages the breeding of the feral Bracewell pests.? Is this one a gravedigger for profit or just fun? With restoration of diplomatic relations between Oz and NZ I am concerned we will be exposed yet again to Bracewells.
BTW Hello all. I read FB at least once a day and enjoy everyone's posts and observations. Even if I cannot always post I have become a post liker. It is my little snail trail.

Stokes overtook Botham in career Test runs today… while Jimmy now has more Test wickets in his 30s than Lord Beefy of Brexit took in his whole career.

NZ looked like they may hold on for a draw yesterday before lunch when I watched the kiwi bats untroubled for a good while, but their bowling has been below par and the English batsmen just seemed to be playing limited over style. There was a ball by ball broadcast on SEN until stumps and it didn't sound like a test match they way the poms were batting.

Only 8.4 overs in the second innings and in the last couple of years, 12 second innings wickets at 45. I wonder if the time has come to use Jimmy in short four or five over bursts rather like a genuine quickie.

But with him and Stokes in that role we’d then need three more seamers (at home anyway), so it would either mean losing a batsman with Foakes at 6 and a very long tail, or no spinner. It would be the latter, of course…Basil wrote:skully wrote:beamer wrote:… while Jimmy now has more Test wickets in his 30s than Lord Beefy of Brexit took in his whole career.
