Cracking day's Test Cricket. Collapse, big recovery, collapse, little recover, choke.

Glorious.

The final dismissal was reminiscent of the strangle off the glove, Harmy to Kaspa at ferkin Edgbaston in 2005.

Only 2nd ever 1 run loss (after Aus's heartbreak v Windies at Adelaide in 1993).

A bit. This one was definitely out, though. Off the bat and all.

Jimmy still hasn’t hit the winning runs in his long Test career, apparently. Maybe one day they’ll push him up the order to do so.

A tie would have been fitting… but we really lost this by letting them rack up a big score in the third innings, the lack of variety in the attack probably told. A lesson to learn there.

Brook being Rooted didn’t help.

Was following this at work. Had given up on the kiwis when Root and Stokes were slaying them. Couldn't believe the one run result.

Brook’s was seemingly the first diamond duck in a Test for England since Monty Panesar against South Africa in 2008.

It’s only the second for England since reliable balls-faced data became available in 1991. In that time there have been 22 in all Test cricket. The only player to get two… Chris Martin, presumably as his batting partners were desperate to try and keep him off strike!

Impressive fightback by NZ after theyd been 103-7. I hope Stokes isnt crocked again. With a bad
knee you'd think he have spent the rest of the NZ innings in the slips not charging about
the outfield but such is his enthusiasm. If hes not fully fit for the ashes, england will probably fall
apart. Becos at 195-5 I thought we were still going to win. But NZ showed how to beat bazball,
just bat long in the 2nd dig. Simples. And this game shows that Test cricket still has the primacy
over all other formats.
