Former Australian paceman Jason Gillespie has suffered minor injuries in an alleged assault in country Victoria, hours after playing a state cricket match.
Gillespie was part of the South Australian side which lost a Ford Ranger Cup match to Victoria in the Latrobe Valley town of Traralgon on Sunday.
A Traralgon police spokesman said the alleged assault occurred about midnight (AEDT) outside one of the town's nightclubs.
The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) said Gillespie travelled to Melbourne on Monday, where he was treated for minor injuries.
The injuries were not severe enough to affect his availability for upcoming games, SACA said.
The incident was being investigated by police.

Fark, there's some rubes in the world. Why the fark do punters get so fiesty when they are full of ink. I just sit in the corner and go to sleep, or better still, post gibberish on a cricket forum.

Conspiracy theorists might speculate that Tait's 'retirement' today is somehow connected.

Why would anyone assault Dizzy? Except maybe for the crazy mullet. Does he still have it?

No, the mullet is gone and has been replaced by a rapidly greying short back and sides.
