I'd forgotten about one of Mucca's most famous alleged "spirit" transgressions. I now remember it well as I was watching the Test on Fox.

At Christchurch in Dec 2006, Mucca ran out Murali after he wandered down the wicket to congratulate Sanga on reaching his Test hundred. Precisely the same sort of incident. One of at least 3 in his career.

Enjoy that lonely beer, Mucca. Wipe away those tears of hypocrisy.

Another from the indefatigable Zoggy via SocMed...

We win at all costs.

Sturat back in August 2013 after England had gone to a 3-0 lead in the Ashes in England.

"Stuart Broad has said he's proud to be a member of an England side that is an "unpleasant" team to play against. England's ruthless streak has been on display during the Ashes, where they are an unbeatable 3-0 up against Australia heading into this week's final Test at The Oval in south London.
...
"We've come through tricky times and stand up when we need to be counted, which is quite an un-English thing. We want that to continue," the fast bowling all-rounder said. "There's no doubt the country is proud of this team and what we've achieved because fans like winning teams. We want to win and make them happy.

Then, almost as a reference to the dominant Australians of the late nineties and the early noughties (a side that the England team were harrassed by) Broad said that he was happy that the current bunch had developed a similar personality. "We do have a win at all costs mentality. I think we're quite an unpleasant team to play against at the moment.

"Teams won't play against us and enjoy the experience. That's what we want. You always have a responsibility to the fans and youngsters because you're role models. You have to play hard but fair, that's how the spirit of the game is defined," Broad added."

-----------------------------------------

He gave Alex Carey a royal spray yesty when he came to the wicket after Jonny's dismissal saying Carey's dismissal of Bairstow was the worst thing he'd seen on a cricket field.

He cried that the last Ashes series in Aus was void because a ruthless Aus smacked his side, and again yesterday when Aus showed their ruthless side.

What a hypocritical qunt the man is.

Keep up the ruthless work, boys.

28 needed and Tongue swinging would've put my BP through the roof
A target 15 closer may also have motivated Broad to keep batting properly instead of throwing in the towel.

I remember clearly thinking at the time "Fair enough. Chuck was stoopid enough to wander out of his crease without waiting for the ball to be dead". Exactly like nimrod Jonny yesty.

But Mucca was in print this morning saying he wishes he could turn back time re: the at least 3 times he executed the deed. No you don't Mucca, you'd do it again tomorrow if still playing and had the chance. H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T.

Poms make me a bit ill sometimes. I expect this sort of sookery from India, but not usually England. Normally Fleet Street arcs up about what dozey qunts their team is, rather than sooking.

Loving the brouhaha from a dead culture still twerking on the semi twitching fat in Jonny's noggin

Today I am celebrating every bruise on the despised Broad and laughing at the coward racist cooker Slobbo who did not want to stick around to cop his.

As for the gin sodden Brexiteers in the MCC, today was a reminder that Pomgolia is no longer a Colonial power.

I have come to thing sport is a bad place for heroes and villains.

The ones you thought were "baddies" can surprise you - as can those, differently, where your judgment gave way to unconditional praise.

High level sport - esp. one the national plane - is not a good place for absolute adulation or condemnation.

Definitely a hoax.

Stop and think for a second:

Would it make sense to name the individuals, create focus points for scorn and pillorying with some, create heroic rallying points for right-wing jingoism on the other, by publishing names at all?

It's not the courts passing a guilty verdict - and police don't standardly publish names - it's a suspension of membership pending investigation for hateful conduct.

Besides, the suspended trio are Brigadier Percy Porky-Bladdertrappe (ret'd), Ian "BaconandEgg" Norfolk, and Kelvin McKenzie-McKenzie Dettori.

And did Marnus throw his bat down in a tanty (like Broad did later to Carey). No, he just nodded and got in with it, as England should do.

No amount of sooking is going to change the result, and if hateful revenge is on Eng's mind, it will surely cloud their judgment and play into Aus's hands.

Imaginary discussion in the Long Room on Day 4 had Jonny caught Marnus out of his ground from back at long stop, after England appealed and umpires gave Marnus out Stumped - with Stokes NOT recalling him.

Hubert Fotheringdale-Wilkins III: "Hmm, a rather bothersome dismissal that, don't you think, old fruit?"

Beaumont Blithingham-Cotswalds II: "I fear you are on the money, my dear old thing. Surely Stokes will recall him?"

No recall from Stokes.

Heathcliff Almondcakes-Johannson IV: "Chaps, I believe it behooves us to frown and harrumph at Stokesy and the lads when they return for their cucumber sandwiches at Lunch."

John Smith: "Jolly good show. Let's let these limey blighters know our ire in no uncertain terms at this appalling turn of events. It's just not cricket."

Labuschagne walks disconsolately through the Long Room after his dismissal...

All: "Damned unlucky, Marnus, old chap. Better luck next time. Pass the Pimms."

At Lunch, as the England players make their way to the dressing room...

All: "Well played, lads. That shows those colonials and convicts what for, ay. Tan their hides."

Man o man. I have to say...

Just as the Pope-deGrandhomme comparison is a false equivalence, for the two reasons I tried to show above, the Bairstow-Lab "incident" doesn't hold water as a case for "hypocrisy". . for at least one of the same reasons.

Not at the conclusion of an over.

No symbolic "pawing if the ground" with the bat behind the crease by the batsman.

No movement of the umoires tiwards their alternate-over posiotions which make Bluey Jnr draw a mistaken, "fatal" conclusion he could march off for an (obviously urgent) confab with his skipper about strategy.

Bairstow's throw was during the over, testing whether the batsnan was standing, out if his ground, ball clearly live, as they say, as one continuous movenent - like Alex Carey's pitch, an unbroken movement like Mitch Starc's dive with his catching hand dragging the ball in a great skidmark along to the floor to make the catch.

So hypocrisy is a strange charge. And to add e.g. the fatso Pom missed with his throw unlike our keeper is just gratuitous insult, neither here nor there regarding the issue.

Was Bairstow out? Technically, of course he was I may have missed it, but I haven't seen anyone dispute that.

But the letter of the law was never the issue.

What grinds my gears is more the abuse ... including against Bairstow. He 's hot blooded He's not a hypocrite. He's nit eveb a very naughty boy. Which is more than can be said for some:

Some throw not just stones of abuse, but verbal petrol. From their arnchairs. Why?

So, are we gonna see Mankad attempts, Peter?

Will boiling revenge over being supposedly savagely wronged lead to England themselves allegedly playing against the spirit of the game? Time will tell.

As I said earlier, I don't think there's ever been a Mankad in the history of the Ashes.

I'm not a Twitter fiend, but courtesy of MrK and Zat I have seen copious amounts outright hatred of not just our cricketers but of all Aussies, over the fair dismissal of a lazy cricketer. Now that's verbal petrol from the armchairs.

Aussies have just rolled their eyes and muttered "Pommy whingers" let's just get on with it, but quite a few Englishmen/women have shown the same outright hatred we expect to see at Headingley from the Yorkie bovver boys.

Even your PM sought to gain same brownie points with the electorate by toeing the Stokes line.

Happy to post a few for you, Peter. It's been pretty civil in here but we Aussies don't react to "cheat" that well when no cheating was done.

What do you have to say about your team's biggest hypocrit, your coach, Peter?

He'll say, oh I apologised for that at a Spirit of Cricket lecture in 2016, but this is what happens in the heat of battle. Chuck had even touched down behind the crease with his bat, something that Jonny didn't even bother doing. Chuck wasn't seeking advantage, merely looking to congratulate Sanga on his 100. The same as Jonny's lazy out, except thatJonny didn't even bother putting his bat back in the crease.

Carey had noticed Jonny's propensity to wander out of his crease before the ball was dead, and he punished Jonny for it. Poor cricket by Jonny, great thinking by Carey.

And Mucca did it at least three times in his career. But he's not gonna have a beer with us?? Little wonder the "Cry babies" headlines have come out across our country.
