Re: Formula One World Championship
Yeah, why did he leave Red Bull? Took advantage of the situation superbly today though, to prove he’s not a spent force. A bit of a forgotten man with all the youngsters emerging.
Good day for Aussie sport with the Wobblies toppling the Yarps…

What a season. All tied with one race to play. The maths are simple for both teams.

Not forgetting Johnny Dumfries (whose real name was John Colum Crichton-Stuart, 7th Marquess of Bute, previously Earl of Dumfries…) Maybe didn’t have quite the success of the others (and probably defined the term “pay driver”) but I think partnered Senna early in his career!

Verstappen wins the race & World Championship in amazing & controversial circumstances. After the safety car was employed, the race boiled down to a one lap shootout in which Verstappen on softer tyres overtook the leader Hamilton.

That was incredible.
I almost even felt sorry for Lewis at the end there.

LOL @ Hamilton.
Personally I think he's a grub.

Re: Formula One World Championship
Love or hate either or both, it was dramatic but a bit of a mess, as I could have predicted (though expected a collision between the two to cause the drama).
I don’t think Michael Masi comes out of it well, though he has a thankless task, they need to look at some of the rules going forwards. Well done Verstappen anyway, while he made the odd reckless move at times I think they both deserved the title really after such an intense battle, and Lewis does have seven of them already… when it’s as close as that you can’t really complain at losing out to a questionable decision on the last day, happens in all sports, you have to win by miles if you want to take officiating out of the equation.

Re: Formula One World Championship
Two races into 2024, and both won by Verstappen / Red Bull (10 in a row, again) ...
I thought the article below brought back memories of a more interesting time:

Ferrari 1-2. That’s a rarity these days.

Re: Formula One World Championship
at least there was less frothing from the Sky comms due to Hamilton's early exit and Russell being in the middle of the pack.

Re: Formula One World Championship
Good to see Mclaren competitive again, and Aston Martin thereabouts. Mercedes have slipped big time but that’s still four fairly competitive teams.
