Mentioned in the same breath as PearlJ, disgraceful.
Australia seem to be doing the impossible this series in being one of the few sides who actually like gifting their wickets away more than England though it has to be said this batting line up is worse than the 1985 variety.

Not the gloaty type me! Way too early in the series yet. Good to see the forum still going with some familiar faces and reasonably active.

I realised i've hardly been on the forum much in a year and a half. I said i'd stick around last time I made an appearance, which didn't happen!

Welcome back Tino.
Well, that was a jolly good day wasn't it? They even let the batsman who wasn't from Yorkshire get a few runs.
But, on a serious note, I told you all Bonk was good.
Re: England v Australia, 2nd Test, Lords, 18-22 July, 2013 (II)
This series now has the makings of another 1985 Ashes debacle for Aus. Bowlers & batsmen completely lacking in confidence. All English batsmen (bar perhaps the normally more prolific KP, and Porche) firing, Jimmeh and Chinn leading the English attack brilliantly, and the Poms with their tails up.
Grim times ahead over the next month and a bit, methinks.
But I'll be here, applauding English quality and critiquing Aus woefulness.

Don't worry, I'll save the day! (although I suspect I will be walking into Old Trafford on Day 3 just as the Ashes are secured).
Don't need to go back to 1985 by the way, 2010/11 was just as dire with 3 innings defeats.

Well we've seen sides bat for ages 2nd innings at Lords before after a woeful 1st innings, so you never know. When was the last time Australia would have been 2-0 down to England in a test series? 86/7 away from home, probably 1977 at home.

Yep, a guy with a lot of thinking to do. According to him we gifted eight of the ten wickets in the first innings.
Think you're right about that too. When you need to win to regain the Ashes, being down 2-0 on foreign soil equals an almost unassailable lead for the hosts.
In other matters Katich reckons he never really retired and he's open to suggestions.

Are we allowed to call Agar for the failed experiment it is and now just hope the kid hasn't lost all his confidence?

Yes, he's not a test spinner...yet. For all his faults, Lyon can at least do a job.

Yes, he's not a test spinner at the moment. But can Aus honestly say he isn't one of their best six batsmen? Maybe both he AND Lyon should play the next test, with one doing a lot more bowling than the other.

Time for Clarke to get the chop as captain?
He just seemed to give up yesterday.

No, Clarke was just trying to make Cook declare. Which was crap because he'd only do that if England were 900 ahead.
Agar shouldn't be selected next test as a spinner. If he's a best 6 batsman then he should be batting at 6/7 and you'd have to fark off that immovable qunt Watson out of the two. What's the point of having two all-rounders?

Aus the new India. Can't even beat Eng at home and now presently absolute shit outside home. This side really lacks any sense of commitment. Sadly major Ashes series last 2 decades have been uninteresting and predictable. First Aus was pounding the Pommies in one sides contests and now merely the roles have reversed.
Only maybe the 2-1 win by England in 2005 was a close contest. That rare Aus defeat was considered an aberration and When Aus last won an Ashes 5-0, did anyone imagine that in less than a decade, they would be the whipping boys of England not that long ago?

Was always going to happen after the media turned him into the next Bradman.
