All the more reason to Vote Yes and move on.
Welcome back, MrK, we've missed you.
On the topic, come on now, you have to at least admit what a shithouse job Albo and Co have done on selling this thing?
Yes but I never thought Yes would win because it's impossible to win a referendum without bipartisanship. It's too easy to run scare campaign in soft and comfortable Australia.
To that extent, I wonder if Albo isn't unhappy with how it's all going. It's taking the heat off bigger issues and frankly no one will be thinking of the Voice by Christmas, regardless of who wins.
And Dutton won't come out of it looking great either.

or we just move on and "do better" regardless of the result...
What in the past history of Australia leads you to believe we can otherwise do better?
it's "the vibe." we're f'd regardless.
So Vote Yes and at least we can move on.

Re: The Voice
Fark me, the qunt Dutton was at our local pharmacy today, complaining about the change to the prescription rules. Sadly, I didn't realise until after otherwise I would have work my Vote Yes cap and gone to have a look.

We can't move on for at least three weeks. We can only "move on", Merlo-style ... regurgitating the same stuff over and over.

I have no idea. I don’t expect the answer to ever be revealed.

Re: The Voice
they said $360m in the articles this morning, so no doubt it would be higher. all I know for sure is if it's Albo vs Dutton at next election, we're getting stuck with Albo again. Libs need a better candidate.

Shout out to Albo for leaving the country more divided than before his poorly delivered and failed Voice referendum.

Re: The Voice
but but but it only failed because we’re a nation of racists …
especially that Mundine and Jacinta and Lydia
nothing to do with the conflation of an ‘advisory body’ (“details to follow later folks, but it’ll be nothing like the 4 or 5 previous failed advisory bodies, trust me it’ll be fine this time so let’s stick it straight in the constitution) with a statement of recognition of primacy (which would have romped it in). A SNAFU by Albanese and his advisors when he could have presided over the recognition of indigenous national primacy and gone down in history, forever associated with that, like Gough/Vincent, Keating/Mabo, and Rudd/apology.
I’m with Lydia. Do something truly meaningful. Put the recognition in the constitution and work towards a treaty. There is no point in a centralised advisory body, whether powerless as this was mooted to be or with some executive power - both models have been tried in the past and failed already. Treaty, and spend money in the areas where the need is greatest, in meaningful programs run by the local elders.

Agree with the last para. Noel Pearson model was doomed to failure.
Constitutional Recognition and Treaty.

Re: The Voice
Interesting to note that most of the two mil. eligible voters who failed to register their verdict were young people and that this is a world-wide trend in elections. I see the same thing with my senior students. They aren't aware or current issues, seem to be apolitical and get their news sources from TikTok.

This made me chuckle. We remember you as a youngster… In fact I still do so it is somewhat odd to read your thoughts on the younger generation.

I'm good. Disappointed with the Voice outcome but not surprised. Sort of the complete opposite of my views Australia's performance against Pakistan.
