Ponting in stringing words together and making sense shock
Full article
"For some reason, I'm not sure what it is, Neil Harvey seems to be the hardest man in the world to please where modern cricket is concerned," Ponting said.
"He's also the first one that any journalist around Australia would ring because they know he is going to give a negative reaction to this team.
"And to tell the truth there is no one in our current team, and I don't think there's too many around Australia that actually sit back and listen to what Neil Harvey has got to say."

...and I reckon Neil Harvey might have a few negative comments to say about Punter's opinion

Has anyone ever seen Neil Harvey and Horace in the same room?

I agree embee.
Anything after 1965 doesn't cut it for Neil.

I wish some current Aussie player would knock on the bitter old blurter's door on tell him straight to his face the sort of stuff Punter said above.

Anyone notice Ponting's lack of respect for past players in the 5th paragraph? (couldn't lift & paste, apologies)
Amusing that he's having a sook about the attitude of past players towards his team and in doing so flames the committment of Test players of past years.
He just doesn't get it.

chortle - Harvey is a moron but the "blame" for his worthless opinion appearing in print lies with the shitraking journalist.

Imagine him telling Keith Miller that he just went out and had a bit of a giggle.
Still you couldn't expect Drunky to say that many things and get them all right.

I think Miller might agree with Punter.

Hehehe, can't wait to see what taily has to say about her beloved Squinty being slagged off in here. Still, Punter is probably just saying what the likes of AB, Tubby and Tugga were thinking anyway. I know AB has hinted as a similar point of view to Ponting re Harvey on Inside BJ.

Miller: "Pressure? Having a Meshershmidt (spelling mangled) up your arse, that's pressure"
Ponting's an over-indulged child.

Re: Ponting in stringing words together and making sense shock
Yes, Mick, for Miller and his generation (except Bradman), cricket was a game, they had been through a war. It isn't anymore . . . it's big business and the pressures on players are much greater.
Punter loses a series and he is farkin near strung up . . . so he decides he ain't gonna lose another one no matter what and he's an over-indulged child. Fans like you are a bit of a joke . . . .

Ponting is right.Things have changed. They changed when ODI came into being.
Test cricket was fast losing its popularity.Harvey has never had anything good to say about the Aussie teams for the past 20 years. He has a one track mind like Warney's thinking on coaches.

Phurt , tac ...Punter is fine as long as things are going his way ...Spits the dummy pretty quick when they don't ...His plan B is to re try plan A ...always has been ...great batsman ...captain of a great team ...

I think Miller might agree with Punter.
Miller's on record saying that Bradman played it way too hard against the Poms in 1948. Miller felt that series should have been conducted in a far more relaxed manner against an opposition that had suffered more from the physical & mental deprivations of a war on their doorstep.

He doesn't like losing and he has the weakest/inexperienced bowling attacks of any captain since poor old Grumpy. He's had to try a lot more in the field that Waugh ever had to . . . especially when he has spinners like MacKnob and Hogggyyy!!!! getting spanked and he can't overbowl Bing in case he becomes Bung again.

So Mick, has Punter replaced TGM as your most loathed current Aussie Test player?

Exactly why I think Miller would agree with Punter's summation.

Go back and look at some matches when the 2GM were playing and things weren't going Australia's way (at the time) he becomes frustrated and loses the plot and shows no idea how to change things ...
Pakistan in Perth when he bowled himself and boof at Shoaib and Sami to rest the bowlers for the follow and then didnt enforce the follow on ...Oram's ton ....Bravo's ton ...and the Poms smacking up 500+ in the first innings in Adelaide .
All games that Australia got out of ...but mainly from star turns from their players rather than inspired captaincy ...

"it's big business and the pressures on players are much greater"
tac, read the fecking article & then think about this.
Ponting and the modern players have little to do but play cricket - it's a far bigger business paying far bigger rewards. In his own narrow bogan way Ponting sees "bigger business" as an excuse for on field behaviour that's he would be unlikely to accept in his own home. Don't you think players from the past being paid absolute shit money, trying to keep a family fed while they were on tour might have bigger reasons to be suffering from their circumstances.
