Ranatunga - We have to do whatever India says because we're
financially rooted.
It's a shame because Sri Lankans are generally such lovely people, but given that Ranatunga is such an annoying fat ******, I find it hard to feel sorry for them. Especially after they said they'd have gone home if India had sooked out of the CB series.

Not that I've any problems with the money BCCI make from Indian cricket going to something worthwhile, but shouldn't the ICC be the first to offer financial help. I mean they're not really struggling for money either.

You know, doremi, most reasonable people would think that.
I'm sure there was a pretty decent prize money packet for making the WC final last year too.

Be fair zat. How would you like it if I judged all Australians on the basis of John Howard? Or Neil Harvey....

Only few years back SL cricket board was one of top 4 richest boards in the cricketing world. It is a great shame that corruption along with so called "businessmen" ran it for their benefits. Or may be the president "borrowed" all the money from board to buy arms. The country is almost bankrupt anyway and the board might aswell join the president's wagon and try begging money even from African nations to fund its war chest.

Upon re-reading that furry, I could have been clearer. I meant 'I find it hard to feel sorry for their cricketers'.furriner wrote:Zat wrote:financially rooted.

I do worry for SL once Murali retires. Can't really see them winning many matches although they will draw a number for a few more years off the back of Jayawardene's and SAnga's class.

They will have a steady attack and should still do well enough at home . . . but won't threaten to run through any top teams away as they have in the past.

You should worry more for India once the current legends are gone. We won't even be drawing at home let alone even winning. BCCI's moneypower is set to evapourate much sooner than later. Asian Cricket looks to be on a path to heavy decline overall in the next decade to come.
Actually, don't be too surprised if Bangals emerge as the strongest Asian team a few years down the line.
Asian boards really need to develop good infrastructure, wickets and need to do more overseas junior tours if they don't want to lose an entire decade to a generation of FTBs falling all over the place.

No, Roebuck beats himself and Boycott beats his women.

Bangladesh have gone backwards in the last decade. I don't see them ever being other than crap for the next 30 years.

I am afraid the way the 'talents' are coming up in India, SL and Pak, we may as well end up being more crap than Bangals a decade along the line. They may well end up being the new Asian BCCI.
