Will this be enough to effect the Aus to tour Pakistan:

Bodyguards, sniffer dogs to protect Aussies
SYDNEY, Feb 8: Personal bodyguards will shadow Australia’s cricketers during next month’s Pakistan tour as part of planned stringent security usually reserved for visiting heads of state, reports said on Friday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed the measures following Australian concerns over security that has left a question mark over their tour to Pakistan next month.
Bodyguards will be assigned to each Australian player, bomb-detection dogs used and roads closed to all traffic nearby as the visiting team travels to and from grounds, the Sydney Morning Herald said.
“If a player is travelling in a lift, there will be security with him. If he goes to eat somewhere, he will have protection. There will be man-to-man security,” a senior PCB official told the newspaper.
“All roads will be closed to traffic every time the team travels to and from the ground. When they are entering their team bus, it will be checked by bomb-disposal units. There will be sniffer dogs, too.”
However Cricket Australia (CA) still has concerns about the tour...

Re: Pakistan cricket news thread.
Was watching a bit of domestic cricket.
Good to see this young guy named Sohail Khan bowling at a decent pace. He literally jogs in and still bowls at around 140 KPh so with a bit of work he might get it up to 145 KPH. In his list A match against ZIM he was beating the likes of Taibu for pace so hopefully he will be ready to play test cricket soon.
Wahab Riaz(leftie) is another one who was bowling at over 140 KPH against ZIM, he also swung the ball away from the bat. The only thing in Wahab's case is that he seems to have already maxed out and would probably not get any faster.

Sounds a lot like the 'protection' they promised Benazir Bhutto.Bodyguards, sniffer dogs to protect Aussies

Yeah but the diffrence is they actually want to protect the australians
and the cricketers r more likely to follow the instructions of their security detail
instead of ignoring them for political milage

if they weren't trying to protect BB then why would not following their instruction be such a big factor?CricFan wrote:Yeah but the diffrence is they actually want to protect the australians

I just hope that the people responsible for the actions are punished and the whole thing doesn't turn in to a massive mystery like Liaquat Ali Khan's death.

It's clear except to the biggest dufus that Musharraf assasinated BB and has cleverly managed Scotland Yard (what credibility do they have anymore ?) to endorse his whacky theories.
Hope that he meets his just end on the nearest pindi lamp post.

And another difference could be that the Aussies prefer to play in the lucrative IPL:
CRICKET Australia was warned last night its superstar players could soon walk away from the international game to share in Indian Premier League riches.
As the sport finds itself in a deepening mess, the International Cricket Council and cricket's various governing bodies have been told to find a stand-alone spot in the schedule for the Twenty20 IPL, when there are no international matches, otherwise they could suffer the consequences.
The IPL's Australian-based agent, Neil Maxwell, said the cashed-up tournament, backed by the mighty Board of Cricket Control of India, was a temptation too great for some players to refuse.
"The cricket world is going to have to respond to the IPL given the magnitude of it," Maxwell said last night.
'I know (players' union boss) Paul Marsh made the logical suggestion that ultimately there needs to be a six-week window carved out of the playing itinerary, the Future Tours Program.
"Otherwise players will be leaving. Players will be retiring. Unfortunately, at the moment, we have a conflict.
"If that is taken out, there won't be conflict."
Australia's top players are unlikely to feature in the inaugural IPL, beginning April 18, because of tours of Pakistan and the West Indies, but that could change if rumours yesterday that the Pakistan series will be postponed are correct.

For now i am a bit worried about Dr. Mushaddiq(man who treated Benazir) and won't be surprised if he is quietly murdered.
Yes but that didn't happen at Liaquat Baag(both LAK and BB were killed in the same park)taipan wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:

their mandate probably was to help with deficiencies in Pak forensic system
(a) Don't let the Firemen hose down the evidence - check
(b) Perform autopsies on murder victims - check
Mission accomplished... back to the Yard...

Re: Pakistan cricket news thread.
Or else going by the standards they set in the Woolmer investigation we would have heard Monsieur Lestrade turn in a report saying "Benazir died of a methane explosion caused by her driver eating too much beans. Rather nasty but quite accidental, old chap"
We escaped that didn't we ? small mercies

Former Pakistan Under-19 cricketer killed
Cricinfo staff
February 12, 2008
Rahatullah, a right-arm seamer who played for Pakistan Under-19s, was killed by unknown assailants in Peshawar while he was on his way to join the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) squad for a domestic tournament.
According to a report published in Urdu daily Jang and also broadcast on GEO News, Rahatullah's body was found two days after he had stepped out of his house. He was 18 years old.
Rahatullah, who played for Peshawar, claimed a match haul of 7 for 145 on his first-class debut against Quetta in the 2007-08 edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He went on to play two more matches, ending up with 16 wickets at an average of 19.
By then he had already represented Pakistan at youth level, playing in a 'Test' match against his Indian counterparts in September 2006 before going on an U-19s tour to Australia in April 2007. He didn't take a wicket against India, but took three wickets in the three youth ODIs against Australia, with a best of 2-30.
According to the News, Peshawar authorities had recently sent a letter to Salahuddin Ahmed, national chief selector, urging for Rahatullah to be included in the NWFP team for the Pentangular Cup. It is thought that he was close to selection for the region.
Meanwhile, PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf spoke to Rahatullah's father, offering his condolences and assuring him of the board's support toward the investigation into the death. Ashraf instructed the PCB's regional representative, Anwarzeb, to meet Rahatullah's family and handover Rs.100,000 to them. Rahatullah's regional retainer-ship fee would also be given to his family on a monthly-basis till the expiry of his one-year contract.
