Good news thread
What with all the doom & gloom on the sporting front, revelations about ancient kiddy-fiddlers, bent journos, coppers and other people in positions of authority covering up/suppressing scandalous events of various kinds, religious cranks running amok all over the middle east, and never ending stories of chavs & bogans doing what chavs and bogans do .......
a chance to share things that have brightened your day and lifted the spirits

Re: Good news thread
My son is 23 today, and he has just graduated with first class honours in electronic engineering. He's got about a month off before embarking on his PhD ...... looks like he may become a real boffin .
Since he's the first in my immediate family to even attend university, let alone graduate - I can't express just how proud I am as a parent.

Well done. It all bodes well for the future.
(he should be able to afford to put you into a decent nursing home when the time comes)
Re: Good news thread
my mum turned 88 yesterday....which is peculiar given I am 2 millennia older than her ...but let that rest...my mum has been through all manner of trying events but remains an avid learner - she is a pest at U3A and still has that ability to drive me bonkers

Congrats but wouldn't he get more money quicker in the private sector or is boffinhood a decent earner nowadays?

Re: Good news thread
I fly overseas for the start of a five-week holiday in America and Europe tomorrow.
First stop San Francisco. The highlight of the trip is my cousin's wedding in Copenhagen. She's marrying a hot Danish doctor - it's Mary and Frederick Mk II.
Her brother is also getting married later this year and I will be in the bridal party. I'm a sucker for a good wedding!

I can't go that far. I'm dealing with the Israelis nowadays. But the good news is that they love me and probably want my babies.
