You obviously didn't hear about the upcoming 3 match series against Pakistan.SG wrote:I think at his age he should bowl as many overs as possible. Besides he'll have free time (more than 3 weeks) to recuperate after this tri series for SA series.Playing him in too many ODIs.

I think I remember him clocking 150k+ in the Aussie tour of 99/00, though it's all surreal even in my memories.

Re: Ishant Sharma appreciation thread
Speed gun at Faisalabad wasn't giving a correct reading. Some of his yorkers where he was beating the batsman for pace were being clocked at 112-113 KPH. Having said i still don't think he is any where near express yet and even among the youngsters he is certainly slower than Wahab Riaz, he was being hyped because in the very first season in domestic cricket he broke Fazal Mahmood's 50 year old recod.Henry wrote:Actually I think i've seen RP Singh clocked at close to 150 km/h before as well. About 7 years ago, Zaheer Khan was around the 145 km/h mark.
Any reason why India is now producing genuinely quick bowlers whereas traditional pace stronghold Pakistan is now producing a steady line of military medium pacers like Arafat and that other bloke? Sohail Khan, the supposed latest "Express" Pakistan pace bowler, bowled a fastest ball of 139 km/h recently against Zimbabwe.

I got this from cricinfo
"We have spoken to the BCCI about it and the tour is 99% done," an official told Cricinfo. "If Australia do come, it will not be over the same period as it was before, so we want that period to be used as well. The series will involve three ODIs, and we are aiming for it to start around March 12. For ease, the ODIs will be played in Lahore."

I missed the 2nd spell Surrender. Did he clock at 145+ today?SG wrote:Yep, his stock is rising with each match.
p.s They were showing the slow motion replay of his bowling action and it seems that he is putting a LOT of pressure on his left knee. Now the dilemma is to either cut down the pace and turn in to a trundler like Munaf or continue bowling fast and deal with the injuries as they come along.

Another person who's been a revelation. The first wicket of Parreira's was a dream delivery. Pitched middle, hit top of off-stump at good pace, and he's been doing it consistently since Perth.

Hope he's not a Munaf-esque revelation. But, for now, Ishant's God.

Ishant should concentrate on building muscles: Buchanan
We all saw what happened to Pathan when he tried to do that.

He has been advised a rest for 2-3 wekks, which he'll get. Hopefully he becomes fit for the series. We don't even have a team physio at the moment. When he joins in, we'll get a better assessment.

he does need to though, else he will go the bruce reid way. every young bowler who was skinny has had to bulk up to have a long career - wasim, mcgrath, etc

"At the moment, inspite of injuries, I don't think he should reduce his pace. But he should build more muscles so that his body can sustain the extra pressure," Buchanan told newspersons in Kolkata on Monday."
Very very important!

Thats true, but then who will bowl for India? Zaheer is injured and so is Sree. Even Pathan is injured. And for some reason, Indian selectors don't want to go back to Munaf even though I noticed a lot of attitude change for good during IPL when he was playing under Warne.
Praveen is useless once he doesn't strike with the new ball.
Even if Ishant went for a lot of runs yesterday, he beat the batsmen a number of times as well. I hope they rest him against BD. But then having two matches in two days vs Pak and SL is not going to help.
The schedule for this tournament is simply crazy!!
