Re: Ishant Sharma appreciation thread
They have a guy named Gony in the squad. I heard he was ok so play him instead of SharmaChandan wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:Rest him for a while. Needs to be in top shape for the 1st test vs Lanka
Thats true, but then who will bowl for India? Zaheer is injured and so is Sree. Even Pathan is injured. And for some reason, Indian selectors don't want to go back to Munaf even though I noticed a lot of attitude change for good during IPL when he was playing under Warne.
Praveen is useless once he doesn't strike with the new ball.
Even if Ishant went for a lot of runs yesterday, he beat the batsmen a number of times as well. I hope they rest him against BD. But then having two matches in two days vs Pak and SL is not going to help.
The schedule for this tournament is simply crazy!!

Don't think they'll risk playing him against main countries. He isn't that good to be honest.

Sharma impressed me with his attitude in the series in Aus, he seems to be a real trier, with a bit of ticker. He deserves to do well.

Hasn't Ishant bowled terribly today?
Yesterday he seemed to be right on the button, but today he has been bowling half volleys after half volleys and was duly punished by the two Lankan batsmen!

Re: Ishant Sharma appreciation thread
Yesterday he was bowling well. But it seems that he just can't sustain that good bowling.
Admittedly the pitch is flat, but the bowlers all round the world have to learn to bowl on these kind of pitches only. The margin of error in line is very less and hence consistency is required!

yeah yesterday he was outstanding.
So far in his career he has been a bit unlucky because he should CERTAINLY be averaging in the mid to late 20s.

I don't care about the overall career. It is just starting. But it is important for the team that he bowls more good deliveries than bad ones. Today he is completely off!

Brilliant spell in the 2nd innings!
Can Sharma lead India to a famous win? I think he CAN!

He's clearly the best young quick bowler in world cricket. I wish we had someone like him.

Far too skinny and tall to NOT get injured unfortunately(especially with the amount of cricket they play these days)Chandan wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:A stress fracture is unfortunately a big possibilty.

Reminds me of Bruce Reid.

He's only a teenager, when he discovers the joys of alcohol and kebabs on a night out on the tiles he'll fatten up

didn't anyone say he is vegetarian.
unless he does very rich ghee-soaked food, which is highly unlikely, chances of his fattening up are slim.

Bulking up is good
Shoaib Akthar and Irfan have proven otherwise. A fast bowler needs strengh in his legs and shoulders, does not need rippling muscles and a big girth all of which will start hanging as loose fat at some point in the future anyway !

Shoaib Akhtar is physically disabled and would have turned in to the next M Zahid had he not bulked up.Josh Carney wrote:Bulking up is good
