I don't watch rugby. Not my cup of char.

Probably stems from getting kicked in the eye the one and only time I played it at school.

Word to the wise: getting kicked in the eye is quite painful.

Worthy winners of the Slam.

Awesome scrummage yards from their own line against the head. French were very disappointing in every respect.

It'll be interesting to see how they fare in SA on the summer tour.

Damning with faint praise?

Having said that, remember they are still playing under the old rules.

Didn't a rubbish Australian team that had the worst front row in the history of International rugby beat Wales at home in the WC last year?

That's Wales for you, they can look like no-hopers one minute and world-beaters the next. They'll probably end up with the wooden spoon next time around, I think that happened last time they won it!

It was a fairly poor quality tournament (says a lot that England somehow managed to end up second in the table with some of the performances they produced) but I think that's to be expected straight after a World Cup. Nobody really has a settled side and lots of senior players have retired or been discarded.

not at all, anyone beating both France & England deserves their title win. Overall standard was rubbish though.

Having said that, remember they are still playing under the old rules.

I had a pissy discussion with a pom over the weekend. Main topic of discussion was the ELVs. As you'd expect, he thinks there are roooobish - went on a rant about turning the game into mickey mouse, 7s type circus. Thinking that he understood the ELVs I went on my own rant about how they promoted diversity in tactics and team selections. The conversation went nowhere apart from around in circles. Mercifully through the beery mist I realised that the pom had nfi that a scrum was one of the options from a short arm.

I now wonder if the northern hemisphere delegates that shitcaned the ELVs in Hong Kong the other week were as well informed as this pommie foooker.

Edit: Apologies to the Welsh for not offering my congrats earlier. Well done - apart from a win by Italy, the best possible result.
