Maybe, but would an all-time Transvaal team compete with an all-time NSW, Barbados, or Yorkshire team?
Probably but talking of a team at a specific point in time.

In which case only teams including Bradman or Sobers, or the Surrey team that won all those CCs, is likely to compete with the team you mention.

formidable side ...
I don't know much about Page at all. I know Kourie was a big hitter, but am not familiar with his overall performance. Otherwise, great side, batting and bowling very strong.

A go at a combined Vix-WA team:
Ponny
Lawry
Langer
Hassett
Harvey
Armstrong
Miller
Marsh (k)
Warne
Lillee
Reid
Pretty bloody good actually.

Unfortunately some of them were not seen much outside of SA. Page was genuinely quirk when he first appeared. Kourie was SLA and a bit of a crab when batting despite being a baseball Springbok

Hugh Trumble might get a game for that combined side, especially if Grimmett is disallowed.
I'd prefer Hassett to Martyn.
But surely, even leaving Bradman out of it, each NSW side listed above is stronger?

Without Bradman, I don't think so, Peter.
Lillee and Warne is a formidable basis for an attack.
btw you could probably have Spofforth or Thomson over Lawson ...

Re: Is this the best domestic team of all?
I dunno, lardy. I've never been convinced that Warne is better than Tiger, and I'd say that even if Lillee is better than any one of McGrath, Davidson, or Lindwall [which is not necessarily so, i'd say, especially taking into account batting and fielding] then the remainder of the combined side's pace attack is is outpointed by the other two NSW candidates.
Also, a second Vic/WA side would struggle to come close to the first eleven, wouldn't you admit? Whereas, for NSW, it's pretty close, Bradman apart.

I think Miller + Lillee + Warne + McDonald or Reid + Grimmett or Ironmonger would be a very good test of your NSW first line attack, as stern an examination as the NSW attack could provide. I rate this side closer to the NSW side than you do, obviously ... but Bradman would always tip the balance.

Yes, no argument there.

Re: Is this the best domestic team of all?
lardy,
I think with all the bowlers you mentioned there might be a case that the combined side would stack up in bowling [batting,I'd say, is another matter, even excusing Bradman]
However, to be inconveniently pedantic, you can't have Ted McDonald who, as I'm sure you're proud to acknowledge, made his debut for Tasmania. Nor can you have Grimmett, who began his FC career for wellington. And even if Grimmett is allowed, he'd want the same end as Warne
So - even if for arguments sake we assume that Lillee plus Warne equals McGrath plus O'Reilly, then:
There's little doubt that Lindwall, day in and day out, was a finer bowler than Miller, and Davidson I'd say comfortably outpoints Reid, who could well break down in any case.
Bill Johnston might be the better choice, but noone seriously argues that he was better than Davo.

NLWL was in there as a sort of Wozzie batsman affirmative action.

I based my McDonald and Grimmett selections on the FC team they were representing when first called up to the Test side ...

Re: Is this the best domestic team of all?
Difficult choice, if allowed.
Tasmania and Wellington (NZ) weren't FC teams when McDonald and Grimmett played for them, Wellington still isn't. Maybe that makes things clearer.
