Is Giles Clarke really this naive?

But Clarke told BBC Radio 5 Live: "There won't be any centrally contracted players playing in it.
"We aren't changing our season under any circumstances - there's no possibility of us doing it."
Clarke, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), added: "I can't see any England player wishing to take the risk of losing his England place.
"Our centrally contracted players have very heavy workloads, so we need to be realistic here.
Oh yeah, Giles? And would you really drop the likes of Pietersen and Flintoff if they exercised their right to make money from the IPL?

I can see a lot of faeces hitting the fan.
As I mentioned yesterday
https://flamingbails.forumotion.com/the-flaming-bails-cricket-forum-f1/english-version-of-ipl-t2406.htm
Who in England will throw the kind of money at this supposed 'EPL' T20 rival league that would be needed to keep our top players here?
Giles Clarke also has a very slappable face.

Giles Clarke isn't naive - he's just a monkey-testicle-sucking bollock-brain.

Well yes. He would. If KP or anyone else went off to the IPL out of pure greed (because that's what it is, don't try and tell me it's out of love for 20/20) they could kiss goodbye to their international careers. Especially when they've been explicitly told that they can't go.

Aye, good riddance to 'em if they want to go and play treason with the Indians. Mercenaries.

I don't think Fred would be the slightest bit interested anyway. If he did go, I'd probably have some sort of breakdown.

Freddie will be having enough breakdowns for two in good time, I'm sure.
The IPL probably suits Flintoff more than KP - it's a bit of smash and dash, a load of cash, and it prolongs his career because he's not actually playing a lot of cricket. He could make a lot of dosh before the inevitable injury.
Pietersen, well, it could be a choice between money and greatness.

Judgment has never been KP's strong suit.

Can't ever see KP in wig and robes unless at a fancy dress gig ...lardbucket wrote:Judgment has never been KP's strong suit.
Though ... money is undoubtedly his suit (and I don't for a second blame him) -
Deja vu ... Kerry Packer all those years ago!

KP also has a mischievous Australian and Hampshire mate who may be urging him to choose IPL and certain money now over the possibility of greatness later.

Re: Is Giles Clarke really this naive?
If KP was implicitly told 'If you play in the IPL, you will not ever play for England again.' He wouldn't, it would be madness. If he's as egotistical as people falsely think he is, he'd want the glory - he'd earn more than enough in his career to keep him more than comfortable. He's probably already a millionaire.

"Ex" ,,, to both!!
His mischievious mate AND his skipper (Mascha) have both signed up with the IPL!!
How crazy is that?!
One really cannot blame a guy for saying no to half a mill $$ for a months T20 slogathon?
As far as I'm concerned (as an England diehard fan) if he goes east - good luck to him.
Betcha he's welcomed back as soon as the IPL's dun n dusted.

Danny: I hope you are right but do not share your confidence that KP will make the right decision, if the offer is made.

Well, that's fair do's. I just think all the media hype about Pietersen actually points to him making the 'right' decision. Either way, I justcannot see him giving up international cricket forever, just for some quick nicker. He makes enough already, to warrant him not wanting to be out of the international limelight for the rest of his career.
It's not like it's the 1982-83 Windies rebel tour.
Re: Is Giles Clarke really this naive?
Agreed. KP's just got the hump because some uber-mediocre cricketers are getting their wages delivered in a wheel-barrow for a couple of weeks' dicking around, while he's kicking his heels and being told what's best for him by some ECB cock-knocker.

"Holy tits tom, you won't believe it! Jebediah just got viciously hand raped in the park by that serial cock knocker. Is he alright? No, he got ass ****** aswell."
