Kemar Roach - Latest Windies pacer on the block
Just thought I'd fill you in:
He has been picked right out of Under 19 cricket, with only 4 unsuccessful First Class matches under his belt. He is a right arm pacer, capable of extreme pace with a whippy action. He is another one from our long line of midget fast bowlers, being only 5 feet 11.
Word is he has been giving our batsman the hurry up in the nets, and Dyson has had his eye on him for a while, so they have decided to give him a chance.
Here's the only video footage anyone has of him:

All I know is this: his nickname is bound to be Cock.

If you're going to pick rookie 19 year olds why don't they offer Chris Jordan a place and see where he stands?

Jordan is not as quick as Roach thats for sure, he is more of a fast-medium allrounder. Plus Roach was a much better performer in our domestic under 19 competition. Apparently he has been approached by some scouts from the UK but he turned them down as he knew he had caught the coaches attention.
Jordan is a fine prospect, but let him continue playing county cricket and make his own choice. If his heart is really in the right place he will choose West Indies. But even if he doesn't, good luck to him.

Jordan can reach 90mph. Hes been recorded that fast on Sky speed guns. He is definitely the real deal, I hope he plays for the windies but wont be upset if he decides to represent England.
A bit odd they've picked Roach who only has 7 FC wickets to his name. The WI fast bowling has been ok this series with Taylor, Edwards and Bravo getting wickets. Powell and Sammy have bowled tidyily too but havent been as succesful.
If the WI really want to take a punt on young talent it should be Barath!

Lad looks slippery (Looks like he kneecapped one of the batsmen there with a full toss!)
But then so did Tino Best...

Whose nickname is also Cock. But more personality-based than a pun on his name.

Major difference being that Roach swings the ball as his primary weapon, whereas Tino couldn't really move the ball off the straight. He had a massive no ball problem during those 4 FC matches which has been sorted out.
This is a similar pick to Xavier Marshall, in that Dyson and the selectors have clearly decided that our FC competition is so short that it doesn't prove anything and so they have started picking anyone who clearly has the goods to make it at test level even if they have underperformed at FC level.

Not the worst idea.
Duncan Fletcher picked Michael Vaughan,Marcus Trescothick & Simon Jones when their first class stats didn't warrant a test place...

He could also be nicknamed "William" - after Ken Barlow on Corrie.

I agree, I am very impressed with Dyson so far, he seems a good judge of talent, in the same way that Fletcher was (spin bowling apart obviously!)

Or Max. If he batters the batters into submission.

Roach now past 250 Test wickets, past Holding, with only five legends above him; and he will go past Garner soon, injuries notwithstanding. He was a good spot by Dyson all those years ago. It's a shame WIFAN isn't here to reflect on his early promotion of 'Cock' Roach (Jay's nickname suggestion, above - sadly it never seemed to stick).

Yeah, has fairly quietly moved up the list, and somewhat surprisingly has an average that compares favourably to most of the active players above him in global terms (Broad, Boult, Southee, Starc).
First to make it to even 200 for WI since Curtly and Courtney, and now stands quite clearly as the best they’ve had since those days. Bowled, Cock
