Oz during WSC (except for India in Oz which became a good series but shouldn't have been) and the non Ashes series vs the Poms at the end of WSC ...

86/87 Ashes - we got thrashed by the worst England team ever to tour Australia.

Think the teams in the early 90's can easily win that award...

No - at least the 90s teams had some of the decent rebel players.

Re: Worst Test Series you saw...
The final 2 tests of Ashes 06 was painful to watch at times.

It's Wales national game Skully - no shame in losing to them.
Yes that's very true. But the Saffies are giving us a beating at the moment.

I think you are refering to the drawn 2 teats affair which neither side won in 2004. We couldn't finish them off in the first test and let the Kiwis out of jail the last day and then the next test we nearly finished our ownselves and the series. Both sides competed for inadequacy in bowling stakes. I have mentioned this series.
I don't think you must have seen it, but the 5 tests India-Lanka played both home and away have to be the worst. The pitches in Lanka were even flatter than the roads of the first 2 tests in Pakistan in 2006. India batted first and declared at 520+ on the flattest wicket on Earth and then Ranatunga and co. showed up with no intention to push for a result and took 3 days to bat up marginally under 100 runs, Jaya scoring 340, Aravinda a 100 and somebody else making a 220 [Was it Mahanama? can't recall]. One would have thought that with 700 runs on board, Ranatunga would have taken a shot at a tired fatigued Indian side for a result, but no. The second test was not so high scoring but again one were both sides batters saw half a dozen centuries scored, with nothing in it for the bowlers of any side.
The Lanka's reciprocal visit for a 3 tests series in India was another farce when more batting tracks degenerated the series into dull batting draws with both sides reluctant to take chances and content to avoid defeat. 5 consecutive timeless tests at a stretch between 2 very boring sides has to be the ultimate horror story for any cricket fan.
These 5 tests are also among the worst for Kumble in terms of stats. The period of 1996-97 starting from the home series against SA till the last home series against Lanka mark the start and end of Sachin's first full run as captain and also Kumble's worst phase as a bowler where he has taken the least number of wickets in 2 consecutive seasons compassing 15 or more tests. Also the first time when this took a heavy toll and made him sit out from injury. Poor guy. The Lankans caused most humiliation to him in these 2 series in this whole dry run he suffered.
