Otherwise, all members of this forum who have never visited it.

Strange but true.

They may have visited it in a parallel universe.

There are four men buried up to their necks in sand, so they can't move or turn thier heads, in a straight line. Three face in the same direction, the one at the front faces the other three. There is a wall between the three facing in the same direction and the other one, so he can't see any of them. It's a bit like this:

With everyone facing the wall.

The person who buried them has four hats, two orange, two blue. He tells them he's going to put the hats on them, and if anyone shouts out, corrrectlty, the colour of the hat they're wearing, then everyone will be set free. However, the punishment for shouting out incorrectly is a messy death. The wicked man then proceeds to put the hats on the poor stuck men, in this order, from left to right:

After a while, one of them shouts out, correctly. Which one is it, and why?

Hmmm, I think it is the second one because he has telepathic abilities.

I'm afraid much pragmatism is above me. I have a hard enough time at work, let alone when I'm not getting paid to use mi brain.

You should've told me to phuck myself and let one of the more studious amongst us to get it right.

It is the second one because he can see that the 3rd one has an orange hat & knows that if he also had an orange hat, then the first person would see two orange hats & would be calling out "blue". But because the first person said nothing, the second person knows he must have a blue hat.

And lo, one of the more studious amongst us has got it right.
