He's hurt his finger in practice and gone for an x-ray. According to the Beeb, Solanki kept wicket for the rest of the session.

Shah has kept wicket in tour games for England before...

Call up for Phil Mustard anyone?

Will he get to SAF in time?

Almost tempted to hope Prior is out of the SL series tbh.

I don't think you can call up anyone outside of the squad.

Seems like Solanki's going to get the job. Funnily enough, I mentioned a few years back that someone like Solanki - an excellent fielder who doesn't really bowl - should take up keeping as, if he was even half decent at it, he'd walk into the national side.

Shah has kept before during a couple of tour games (one-dayers, I think) for England. Couldn't tell you how well he went - judging by his overall fielding prowess, probably not great.

Yer, I'm devastated.

Who's going to open tomorrow then, Solanki and Maddy?

If Prior is ruled out by injury, does anyone know if England will be allowed to call up Andy Hodd in time for the New Zealand match?

There IS another keeper with the squad - but he's probably not daft enough to pick himself.

Although he does have a Sussex connection, so he might.

Actually, there's two other keepers - Andy Flower's on board, is he not?

With the precedent set by Snape-gate - why doesn't Peter Moores take the gloves? Although while we're doing this whole weird cricketing time travel thing, I'd rather like to see Bumpy Rhodes get one last game for England- or failing that Godfrey Evans's corpse.

I bet Alec Stewart is still in the same condition he was in as a 20 year-old - like he's got formaldehyde in his veins or something.

Get him out of storage, dust off the moth-balls, happy days.

Phil Mustard has been called up for the Sri Lanka ODIs.

That means he's got 5 games to stake his claim.... on flat Lankan wickets.

Could potentially be the end of Prior's one-day career already.
