1st test v SA squad announcement
At 12.30pm I think?
All the word is of it being unchanged because everything is hunky-dory.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2008/07/03/scprin103.xml
Pringle, what are you on about?
Simon Jones will be distressed to learn that 26 wickets @ 12.53 isn't special enough for Derek Pringle

Two other bowlers able to crank up the pace and discomfort levels are Steve Harmison and Simon Jones. National selector Geoff Miller was at Headingley to see Harmison bowl on Tuesday, while Kevin Shine, the fast-bowling director of the National Performance Centre, was at Leicester watching Jones.
Both are bowling quick and taking wickets, but to oust the trio of Anderson, Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad, who have helped England to four wins in five Tests, they need to be doing something special.

Re: 1st test v SA squad announcement
Derek Pringle is jealous because he was always a fat-bloke-waiting-to-get-out and he was a gashlord. It's of no consequence, JKL>

Be interesting to see who the other 15 are actually.
You'll get your usual Hildreths and Gidmans I expect. But thats the interesting bit.

Aye, they'll send a proper team. A team which would probably beat the current 'Full' squad.

Your credibility went as soon as I thought I saw that Samit Patel wasn't in there but was then informed that I'm stupid. It definitely went when you picked four wicket-keepers. What's the point of more than a tenth of the squad being made up of keepers? England will take two; Prior and Ambrose. You'd think that Strauss, Cook, Bell, Pietersen, Bopara, Shah and Wright will make up the main batsman. Sidebottom, Anderson, Broad, Tremlett, Mascarenhas, Swann and Panesar seem like definites. Fourteen further, total random players, probably including Vikram Solanki will then be required. Half of them will be from Sussex, the other half will have had sexual relations either with Michael Vaughan or Peter Moores, or possibly both at the same time.

Do you reckon he meant Min?
Re: 1st test v SA squad announcement
You'll find there'll be rubbish in all the extended squads of 30. Of course the Aussies have extraordinary depth but most of the rest will name blokes who are merely making up the numbers.

Did do that squad off the top of my head, you can have Sales in there if you like.
Will stand by Lewis - FFS! Compare his ODI record, especially his economy rate to other recent England bowlers. He's streets ahead of most of them. Most be at least worth a place in a best 30.

I don't consider Matt Prior a wicket-keeper. He can bat though, so he's in as a batsman. 3 keepers out of 30 seems fair enough to me.
Chaps, Lets see your 30's then....!

I'd not include - McGrath,Cook,Read,Blackwell,Napier,Lewis & Lungley.
I would include Sales, but i'm struggling for names tbh. 30 is way too big to be meaningful...

Well McGrath is the top English run scorer in 20/20, can bowl a bit too. Read is the best thing since sliced bread, and is a possible captain, Cook will (eventually) develop into an effective ODI player I feel. Blackwell is a fat bloke who can slog it a bit, Lewis has an excellent ODI career record, Napier scored 875 not out off 17 balls in a recent 20/20 and was one of the best English performing bowlers in List A cricket this season, and Lungley - well I saw him play once last year and he looked okay. Did say the list was off the top of my head!
Will sit down round the selection table with a selection of stuffed animals and go over the squad in more detail this afternoon. We'll have bit of paper, post-it notes, maybe even a board to pin stuff to. Will be just like the real thing.
